Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, for the extension of the Clarendon drainage-works, the said Bruce County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the portion of Clarendon Riding comprising Sections 18, 1 of 20, 2 of 20, 1 of 22, 2 of 22, 1 of 24, 2 of 24, and 26, Block II, Sections 1 of 1, 2 of 1, 4, and 5, Block VI, Maungatua Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, and the interest to be paid at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum.

WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers in the Raetihi-Ohura Proposed Special-rating District, in the Waimarino County, duly taken on the 1st day of September, 1908, upon a proposal of the Waimarino County Council to borrow, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the amendments thereof, a sum of £2,800 for forty-one years at 3½ per cent. per annum, for the purpose of trimming and metalling the Raetihi-Ohura Road from its junction with the Pipipi Road to its intersection with the western boundary of Section 6, Block XIII, of the Manganui Survey District, the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 9; against the proposal, 8; informal, none.
The total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being less than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal to be not carried.

BOROUGH OF WEST HARBOUR.

I, HAGBARTH ERNEST MÖLLER, Mayor of the Borough of West Harbour, do hereby give notice that a poll was taken on the 7th day of September, 1908, upon the proposal of the Council of the said borough to raise a special loan of £1,000, to be applied to the installation of the necessary plant to light the streets of Ravensbourne and Rothesay Wards by electricity; the security for such loan to be the revenues of the borough, and the site and buildings known as the Town Hall, and a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the said wards; the loan to be repayable on the expiration of debentures which will be issued, terminable in fourteen years from date of issue, and it being proposed to pay out of loan the cost of raising the loan and the interest for the first year; and at such poll the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 128; against the proposal, 50; majority for the proposal, 78; informal, 1.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Foxton taken on the 31st day of August, 1908, on the proposal of the Foxton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £300 for the formation and metalling of Gladstone, Futter, Liddell, Hetta, and Watson Streets, and Ravensworth Place, the voting was as follows: For the proposal, 33; against the proposal, 8; informal, 1: total, 42.
There being a majority of 24 votes in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Eastbrook, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF EASTBROOK.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Eastbrook was taken on Thursday, the 10th day of September, 1908, upon the proposal of the Eastbrook Borough Council to engage in the following undertakings, and for the purposes thereof to borrow the sum of £4,000, to be allocated to the said undertakings as shown opposite each of them, namely:—
(1.) The purchase or acquisition of recreation reserves, £1,100.
(2.) The erection of a Town Hall, £500.
(3.) The formation and metalling of the following streets: Kaimatira Street, £200; River Bank Street, £800; No. 3 Line Street, £600; Mahoney Street, £50; London Street, £50; Wilkie Street, £50; and Lenihan Street, £50: total £1,800.
(4.) Surface drainage, £600.
It is proposed by the said Borough Council to establish a sinking fund during the currency of the loan—namely, forty-two years from the raising thereof—of £1 10s. per centum per annum on the amount for the time being of the said loan actually borrowed for or towards payment of such loan at its maturity; to appropriate and pledge by way of security to provide for the payment of interest on such loan and charges, and the payment of such sinking fund and loan, an annually recurring special rate of 4d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property within the Eastbrook Borough; to pay off out of the loan-moneys the preliminary expenses incurred in connection with the scheme for which the loan is raised and the first year’s interest on the said loan during the construction of the said works or undertakings.
The number of votes recorded for the above proposal was 156, and the number of votes recorded against the said proposal was 22. There was 1 informal vote.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.
