is provided that the Governor may by Order in Council, in
any case in which he considers that the public interest so
requires, authorise the temporary employment of any
person or any class of persons for a longer period than is
permitted by subsection one of the said section sixteen:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the period of temporary employment of persons
at Te Waikato Sanatorium for Consumptives by the Department of Public Health should be extended from six months
to two years:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority conferred upon him by the said Act,
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorise the temporary employment for two years in lieu of six
months of persons employed at Te Waikato Sanatorium for
Consumptives by the Department of Public Health in the
respective capacities of Medical Superintendent, Matron,
nurses, domestic servants, workmen, and labourers, or in
any other capacity.

Superannuation Provisions of “The Public Service Classification and Superannuation Act, 1908,” not to apply to Persons employed at Te Waikato Sanatorium.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh
day of September, 1908.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section fifty-two of “The Public
Service Classification and Superannuation Act,
1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among
other things, enacted that the provisions of Part II of the
said Act shall not apply to any person who is appointed to
any place or office which the Governor has by Order in
Council, at or before the time of such appointment, declared
not to be subject to the provisions of the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient that the places or offices
hereinafter mentioned at Te Waikato Sanatorium for
Consumptives under the Department of Public Health
should be declared not to be subject to the provisions of
Part II of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority conferred upon him by the said Act,
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
declare that the places or offices of Medical Superintendent,
Matron, nurses, domestic servants, workmen, and labourers
respectively at Te Waikato Sanatorium for Consumptives
under the Department of Public Health, and every other
place or office at the said sanatorium (other than the
office of clerk), shall, with respect to persons hereafter
appointed thereto, not be subject to the provisions of
Part II of the said Act.

Junior National Scholarships.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh
day of September, 1908.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by “The Education Act, 1908,” the
Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Dominion, doth hereby, in respect of paragraph (i) of section 72 of the said Act, make the regulation
hereto annexed, and with the like advice and consent doth
prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date
of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

REGULATION.

For the purpose of the proviso to paragraph (i) of section 72 of “The Education Act, 1908,” respecting the extension of the tenure of Junior National Scholarships the
following examination is hereby prescribed:—

(a.) The Civil Service Junior Examination; provided
that, in general, the holder obtains a pass “with
credit” in the examination; or

(b.) The Special Examination for Senior Free Places;
provided that, in general, the holder obtains a
degree of success in the examination equivalent
to a pass “with credit” at the Civil Service
Junior Examination; or

(c.) Any examination of equivalent value that the
Minister of Education shall approve for the
purpose.

Reserve for Internal Communication in the Auckland Land District brought under “The Tourist and Health Resorts Control Act, 1908.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh
day of September, 1908.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me
by the sixth section of “The Tourist and Health
Resorts Control Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket,
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve
for internal communication in the Auckland Land District
described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is
hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be
subject to the provisions of “The Tourist and Health Resorts
Control Act, 1908”; and such reserve shall hereafter be
managed, administered, and dealt with in manner directed
by the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing
by admeasurement 148 acres, more or less, being Sections
Nos. 1 and 2, Block VII, Tarawera Survey District; as
the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 57182/27,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at
Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Vesting a Cemetery Reserve in the Mount Somers Road Board.


PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh
day of September, 1908.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
has been permanently reserved for cemetery purposes:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the said land should be vested in the Mount
Somers Road Board:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves and Domains
Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day
of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule
hereto shall become vested in the Mount Somers Road
Board, in trust, as a reserve for cemetery purposes.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing
by admeasurement 2 acres and 11 perches, more or less,
being the eastern portion of Reserve No. 1632, situated in
Block XV, Alford Survey District. Bounded towards the
north by Rural Section No. 18513, towards the east by
Reserve No. 1631 and a public road, towards the south by a
public road, and towards the west by other portion of said
Reserve No. 1632; as the same is delineated on the plan
marked L. 56296/11, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
