accept the resignation of the commission held by
Captain JOHN ALEXANDER ALGIE (Pay- and Quarter-
master), 2nd Battalion, Auckland (Hauraki) Infantry
Volunteers,
and to approve that his name be placed on the Active
List (Unattached), with rank of Captain, and with effect
from 14th July, 1908.

Commission of Volunteer Officer cancelled.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
cancel the commission granted
Lieutenant WILLIAM BEGG, North Dunedin Rifle Volun-
teers,
a Court of inquiry held under "The Defence Act, 1900,"
having found him guilty of "Conduct to the prejudice
of good order and military discipline," and the Council
of Defence having therefore recommended that his com-
mission be cancelled.

Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy in Milton
Fire Board.

Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 1st September, 1908.
PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1907, and the
rules made thereunder, I, John George Findlay,
Minister of Internal Affairs, being the Minister charged
with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint
Friday, the 11th day of September, 1908, to be the day for
holding an election of one member of the Milton Fire Board
by the insurance companies concerned, such election being
held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resigna-
tion of Gordon James Reid as a member of the said Fire
Board.

THE following special order, made by the Waikohu
Road Board, is published in accordance with the
provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908."

WAIKOHU ROAD BOARD.

Special Order made on the 3rd day of February, 1908;
confirmed on the 2nd day of March, 1908.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," the Wai-
kohu Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the
purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a
loan of Β£900, authorised to be raised by the Waikohu Road
Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for building a stock-
bridge at Rangatira Ford, Waipaoa, the said Waikohu Road
Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/2d. in the
pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the
Rangatira Bridge Special-rating District, comprising Ranga-
tira No. 1, Rangatira No. 2, Hauomataku 1A1B, Rangatira
3E, 3F, 3G, 3H, 3J; and that such special rate shall be
an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and
every year during a period equal to the currency of such
loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is
fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 4 1/2 per cent.

The common seal of the Inhabitants of the Waikohu Road
District was hereto affixed in the presence ofβ€”
