Captain EDWIN ARNOLD, Waimea Rifle Volunteers,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District, being part of Section No. 18 (Waimea South), Block IX, Waimea Survey District, containing 3 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, and part of Section No. 22 (Waimea South), Block IX, Waimea Survey District, containing 2 acres 3 roods 19 perches, more or less; together with all buildings erected thereon; to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a rifle range for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Brightwater Rifle Range Reserve, and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointment of Trustees, Hamilton Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Defence Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Major WILLIAM HAMILTON HUME, Active List (Unattached);
Acting-Major ALLEN BELL, 2nd Regiment, Auckland Mounted Rifle Volunteers; and
Lieutenant JAMES EDGECUMBE BARTON, No. 1 Squadron, Waikato Mounted Rifle Volunteers,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land being Allotment No. 445 of the Town of Hamilton West, in the Provincial District of Auckland: bounded on the north-west by Knox Street, 303 links; on the north-east by Allotments Nos. 447, 448, 449, 450, and 451, 419 links; on the south-west by Allotment No. 407, 366 links: containing by admeasurement 1 acre: together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Hamilton Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointment of Trustees, Tuapeka (Lawrence) Volunteer Drill-shed and Parade-ground Reserve.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Defence Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Acting-Lieutenant THOMAS PHILLIPS, Tuapeka Mounted Rifle Volunteers;
WILLIAM RICHARD PEARSON, Esq., Lawrence; and
JAMES ROBERTSON, Esq., Lawrence,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 31 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 7 and 8, Block LIV, and Section No. 6, Block LV, Town of Lawrence: bounded towards the north by Boundary Street; towards the east by Sections Nos. 1 and 6, Block LIV; towards the south by Crown land and Section No. 5, Block LV; and towards the north-west by Crown land: together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed and parade-ground for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Tuapeka (Lawrence) Volunteer Drill-shed and Parade-ground Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1903,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act, or in any Crown grant or other instrument of title, the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Board, remove any restriction on the alienation of land owned by Maoris: Provided that the decision of the Governor on any recommendation of the Board shall be given within six months from the date of the receipt of such recommendation:

And whereas the Tokerau District Maori Land Board, by a recommendation made and passed by the said Board on the twenty-fourth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and received on the twenty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, recommended the Governor to remove and revoke the restrictions against alienation contained in the instrument of title of the block of land particularised and set out in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon and vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities me thereunto enabling, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Tokerau District Maori Land Board aforesaid, do hereby remove and revoke the restrictions now existing against the alienation of the said land, so far as to permit the same to be sold.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Whangarei Survey District, containing 20 acres, more or less, known as Maruata No. 6H, and comprised in a partition order of the Native Land Court dated the 19th day of October, 1903, subject to the restriction that the said land shall be “inalienable, except by lease for a period not exceeding twenty-one years.”

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
