And whereas on the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, the Council of the County of Clutha, the local authority having control of the road through part of Section 2, Block XIV, Clutha Survey District, being the road described in the Schedule hereto, did by resolution declare that the provisions of the said section one hundred and seventeen should not apply to the said road:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution.

SCHEDULE.

That portion of road running in a westerly direction through part of Section 2, Block XIV, Clutha Survey District, from the main road near Romahapa towards the cemetery, all in the Otago Land District; as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 9897, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured pink.

Regulations for Re-registration of Acclimatisation Societies under the Animals Protection Act, 1907.

PLUNKET, Governor.

I N exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1907, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations for the registration under the said Act of acclimatisation societies registered under repealed Acts:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. Any existing acclimatisation society already registered under any Act repealed by the Animals Protection Act, 1907 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), may apply for registration under the said Act in the manner hereinafter mentioned, viz.,—

(a.) The application shall be made in writing, addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and shall be signed by the president, chairman, or other principal officer of the society, and by not less than ten members thereof.

(b.) Such application shall be accompanied by a copy of the rules of such society, authenticated by the signature of the president, chairman, or other principal officer of the society.

  1. Such rules shall state or provide for the following matters:—

(1.) The name of the society.

(2.) The objects for which the society is established.

(3.) The modes in which persons may become members of the society, including in all cases other than life membership provision for a written or printed application for membership signed by the intending member.

(4.) The modes in which persons cease to be members of the society.

(5.) The mode in which the rules of the society may be altered, added to, or rescinded.

(6.) The mode of summoning and holding general meetings, and of voting thereat.

(7.) The appointment of officers of the society.

(8.) The control and use of the common seal of the society.

(9.) The control and investment of the funds of the society.

(10.) The dissolution or winding-up of the society, and the disposition of the property of the society in such event.

(11.) Such other matters as the Minister may require to be provided for.

  1. If after consideration of such application the said Minister is of opinion that the society has complied with the provisions of the said Act and these regulations, he may issue a certificate of registration in such form as he may direct.

Appointment of Trustees, Eltham Rifle Range Reserve.

I N exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Defence Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Captain the Honourable WALTER CHARLES FREDERICK CARNCROSS, M.L.C., Active List (Unattached);

Lieutenant ARTHUR GEORGE WHITING, Eltham Rifle Volunteers; and

GEORGE WASHINGTON TAYLOR, Esq., Eltham,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land, being portion of Sections Nos. 29, 30, 31, and 32, Borough of Eltham, containing together 16 acres 2 roods 23·5 perches, more or less, Block X, Ngaire Survey District, in the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 20730, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington; together with all buildings erected thereon; to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a rifle range for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Eltham Rifle Range Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointment of Trustees, St. Andrew’s Rifle Range Reserve.

PLUNKET, Governor.

I N exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Defence Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Captain GEORGE EDWARD GABITES, South Canterbury Volunteers Reserve;

Captain CUTHBERT HENRY GRESSON, South Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers; and

Lieutenant ROBERT ROSS BOWIE, Active List (Unattached),

to be Trustees of all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 17 acres, more or less, being Lot No. 10 of Reserve No. 641, Block XVI, Otaio Survey District: bounded towards the north-east and east by the Otaio River; towards the south-west by Reserve No. 2556 and Lot No. 3 of said Reserve No. 641; and towards the north-west by Reserve No. 631: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 58409/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink: together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a rifle range for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the St. Andrew’s Rifle Range Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
