Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Stratford.

THE following special order, made by the Stratford Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Stratford Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorised to be raised by the Stratford Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing and completing waterworks for the Borough of Stratford for two successive years’ expenditure, the Stratford Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Stratford; such rate to be an annually recurring rate payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Stratford Borough Council held on the 13th day of July, 1908, and confirmed at a meeting of the said Council held on the 10th day of August, 1908.

Special Order made by the Sluggish River Drainage Board.

THE following special order, made by the Sluggish River Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

THE following special order was made by the Sluggish River Drainage Board at a special meeting on the 9th day of July, 1908, and confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the Board on the 6th day of August, 1908:—

SLUGGISH RIVER DRAINAGE BOARD.
Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Sluggish River Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,015, authorised to be raised by the Sluggish River Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for the efficient repairing and maintaining a drain known as the main drain, extending from the Oroua River to the north-eastern boundary of the Board’s district, the said Sluggish River Drainage Board hereby makes and levies special rates upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Special District No. 4—viz., a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound on the rateable value of Sections 1, 3, 338, 339, 386, and Subdivisions 33, 57 to 75 (both inclusive), 84, 85, 99, 101, 102, 103, 104, and parts of 86 and 105; a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the rateable value of Sections 2, 5, 6, 7, and Subsections 31, 100, and parts of 56, 105; and a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound on the rateable value of Section 4, and Subsections 32, 82, 83, 106 to 115 (both inclusive), and part of 56, all in Blocks XI, XII, XV, XVI, Te Kawa Survey District, County of Manawatu: and that such special rates shall be annually recurring rates during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of August and the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest to be paid out of loan.

I hereby certify that the accompanying copy of the special order making special rate is a correct copy, and that the special order was duly publicly notified in the Manawatu Evening Standard of the 13th, 20th, and 27th days of July and the 3rd day of August, 1908.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Hastings, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 12th day of August, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Hastings Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Hastings for raising a special loan of £12,000 for the installation of an electric lighting and power scheme for the said borough, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 176; against the proposal, 306; informal, 18.

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XVI, Pakawau Survey District, for a Mining Work.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and “The Coal-mines Act, 1908,” to take for the purpose of working the Pakawau Coal-mine the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Pakawau, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Mines, Wellington.
