and acquired for a site for municipal buildings for the sum of £340 sterling; Lot No. 7 on the aforesaid deposited plan numbered 1968 to be purchased and acquired as a site for a technical school for the sum of £250 sterling; Lot No. 6 on the aforesaid deposited plan numbered 1968 to be purchased and acquired for the purpose of providing an entrance to Lots Nos. 7 and 8 on deposited plan numbered 1968 and as a Council yard for the sum of £250 sterling.
The said Petone Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Petone, being all that area in the Provincial District of Wellington, situated in the Belmont Survey District, and bounded towards the north by Native land from the north-west corner of Section No. 79, Block XIII, to Section No. 16 (Native reserve); towards the south-east and again towards the north by the said Section No. 16, across the Wellington-Masterton Railway line and the Main Hutt Road, and by White’s Road to the Hutt River; towards the east by that river and Section No. 10 to Port Nicholson Harbour; towards the south by high-water mark of the said harbour, crossing the mouth of the Koro Koro Stream, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 19; towards the south-west by a right line to that boundary-line, and thence by the said Section No. 19 to Section No. 78 of Block XIII aforesaid; and towards the west by the last-mentioned section to the starting-point: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the special order passed at a special meeting of the Petone Borough Council held on the 6th day of July, 1908, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council held on the 3rd day of August, 1908.

PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the amendments to both these Acts respectively, the Petone Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorised to be raised by the Petone Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of purchasing and acquiring lands, part of the Petone foreshore, such lands being acquired in connection with and as an approach to the Petone Wharf; also for the removal and re-erection of the boatshed of the Petone Naval Artillery Volunteers, such work being in lieu of a cash payment for land held by the aforesaid Naval Artillery on the Petone foreshore; also for the payment of survey fees, legal costs, and other charges in connection with the vesting of the aforesaid Petone foreshore in the Petone Borough Council, the said Petone Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Petone, being all that area in the Provincial District of Wellington, situated in the Belmont Survey District, and bounded towards the north by Native land from the north-west corner of Section No. 79, Block XIII, to Section No. 16 (Native reserve); towards the south-east and again towards the north by the said Section No. 16, across the Wellington-Masterton Railway line and the Main Hutt Road, and by White’s Road to the Hutt River; towards the east by that river and section No. 10 to Port Nicholson Harbour; towards the south by high-water mark of the said harbour, crossing the mouth of the Koro Koro Stream, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 19; towards the south-west by a right line to that boundary-line, and thence by the said Section No. 19 to Section No. 78 of Block XIII aforesaid; and towards the west by the last-mentioned section to the starting-point: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £60, Makohau, Turakina Valley, and Taurimu Roads.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Rangitikei County Council doth hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £60, authorised to be raised by the Rangitikei County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” being 10 per centum additional on the original loan of £600 raised for the purpose of metalling the unmetalled portion of the Makohau Road, metalling about 130 chains of the Turakina Valley Road from end of present metal northwards, and metalling about 40 chains of the Taurimu Road, the said Rangitikei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/60d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Turakina Valley Special-rating District, as described on page 3503 of the New Zealand Gazette of 1907, and comprising Section CCXLIII, part No. 2, Pokowharo (216 acres, occupied by A. and E.
