William Henry Beadle to be Lieutenant. Date of commission, 3rd June, 1908.

Wanganui Highland Rifle Volunteers.
James Taylor Watson to be Lieutenant. Date of commission, 3rd June, 1908.

and to approve of his appointment as Adjutant to the 2nd Regiment, Wellington (Wairarapa) Mounted Rifle Volunteers, with rank of Lieutenant, and with effect from 17th July, 1908.

THE following special orders, made by the Petone Borough Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the amendments to both these Acts respectively, the Petone Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £4,100, authorised to be raised by the Petone Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of acquiring and purchasing the lands being Lots Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 shown and delineated on a plan deposited with the District Land Registrar, Wellington, and numbered 1968. The before-described lands shall be purchased and acquired for the following purposes and for the amounts herein stated, viz. :—

Lots Nos. 1, 4, and 8 on the aforesaid deposited plan numbered 1968 to be acquired and purchased for a recreation-ground for the sum of £2,952 sterling; Lot No. 2 on the aforesaid deposited plan numbered 1968 to be purchased and acquired for the purpose of a site for a gasworks for the sum £215 sterling; Lot No. 3 on the aforesaid deposited plan 1968 to be purchased and acquired for the purpose of a public road for the sum of £45 sterling; Lot No. 5 on the aforesaid deposited plan numbered 1968 to be purchased
