Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board closing the roads mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Exempting Portion of Albert Street, in the Borough of Roslyn, from the Provisions of Section 117 of "The Public Works Act, 1905."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of August, 1908.
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of "The Public Works Act, 1905," it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor in Council :
And whereas by section three of "The Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1906," it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions as the Governor by Order in Council thinks fit to impose :
And whereas on the seventeenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight, the Council of the Borough of Roslyn, the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, did by resolution declare that the provisions of the said section one hundred and seventeen should not apply to the said street :
And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved, subject to a certain condition as to the building-line :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution, subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on the south side of the said street within a distance of thirty-three feet from the centre-line of the said street.
SCHEDULE.
THAT portion of the street known as Albert Street between the intersection of Sargood Street and the intersection of High Street, abutting on Sections 14 to 20 inclusive, part of Allotment 1, Township of Bishopcourt, in the Borough of Roslyn, in the Otago Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 9736, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured burnt sienna.

Vesting Control and Management of Streets constructed in the Government Reserve, Sydenham, in the City of Christchurch.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of August, 1908.
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection four of section one hundred and three of "The Public Works Act, 1905" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is provided that the Governor may declare that any road or street constructed by the Governor within the limits of a borough shall be under the control and management of the Council of the borough, and such street shall thereupon be deemed to be a street within the meaning of section two hundred and nine of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900";
And whereas certain streets have been constructed within the Government reserve set apart for workmen's dwellings :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the streets described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be under the control and management of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Christchurch.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of road in the Canterbury Land District, in the Sydenham Ward of the Borough of Christchurch, known as part of Longfellow Street, commencing at the south-western corner of Section 14 in the Workmen's Homes Hamlet, and extending northwards along the western side of the said hamlet, and terminating at the northernmost part of the hamlet, being 25 links wide and about 1175 links long.
Also all that portion of road in the Canterbury Land District, in the Sydenham Ward of the Borough of Christ-church, known as Millar Street, commencing at the south-western corner of Section 6 and the north-western corner of Section 10 in the Workmen's Homes Hamlet, and extending in an easterly direction between Sections 6, 7, 8, and 9 on the north side, and Sections 10, 15, and 16, and Seddon Street, on the south side, and terminating at the north-eastern boundary of the hamlet, and the north-western boundary of Section 26 in the hamlet, being 100 links wide and about 700 links long.
Also all that portion of road in the Canterbury Land District, in the Sydenham Ward of the Borough of Christ-church, known as Seddon Street, commencing at the south-east corner of Section 25 and the south-west corner of Section 33 in the Workmen's Homes Hamlet, and extending northwards between Sections 25, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, and 16 on the western side, and Sections 33, 32, 31, 30, 29, 28, 27, and 26 on the eastern side, and terminating in Millar Street described above, being 100 links wide and about 850 links long; as the said streets are more particularly delineated on a plan marked R. 7627, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and coloured red thereon.
