along the said boundary-line to the south-western corner of Lot 42 on plan deposited in the Land Registry Office, at Wellington, as No. 1237; thence in a straight line in a south-westerly direction to the traverse peg on the old Porirua Road near the intersection of the Crofton-Khan-dallah Road, which peg is marked 12 (twelve) on the application plan No. 846, Land Registry Office, at Wellington; thence continuing in the same straight line to the southern bank of the Kaiwarra Stream; thence following down the same bank in an irregular easterly direction to the point on the boundary of the land included in certificate of title, Volume 93, folio 272, Land Registry Office, Wellington, where the same southern bank meets the northern boundary-line of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company, Limited’s, land, as shown on the said application plan No. 846; thence in an easterly and south-easterly direction along the said last-mentioned boundary-line until such boundary-line meets the Main Hutt Road; thence in a south-easterly direction in a straight line at right angles to the direction at that point of the said Main Hutt Road across that road and to Port Nicholson Harbour; thence in a north-easterly direction by an irregular line along the frontage of the harbour to the commencing-point.

We hereby certify that the above is a full and true copy of the special order re Kaiwarra Drainage Loan, £1,164, passed at a special meeting of the Onslow Borough Council on the 1st day of July, 1908, and confirmed at a special meeting on the 29th day of July, 1908.

REMUERA ROAD DISTRICT.

NOTICE.

Proposal to raise a Loan of £10,000, upon which a Poll was taken on the 24th day of July, 1908.

THE result of the poll of the ratepayers of the Remuera Road District taken on the 24th day of July instant, on the proposal to raise a sum of £10,000 for the extension of the existing waterworks of the said district, having been ascertained, I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 41 votes; against the proposal, 3 votes.

And I hereby declare that the resolution in favour of such proposal was carried.

Proposal to raise a Special Loan of £2,000.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 29th day of July, 1908, for and against the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Karori to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments) the sum of £2,000, to be expended in levelling, laying out, improving, and planting the Recreation Reserve, and the erection thereon of the necessary buildings, was as follows: For the proposal, 87; against the proposal, 36; informal, 4.

I hereby declare the above proposal carried.

Notice of the Taking and Laying off of Road through Section 1, Block IX, Waipiro Survey District, Waiapu County.


NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 16 of “The Land Act, 1892,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was on the 4th February, 1908, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 15th August, 1907.

Notice to Mariners No. 52 of 1908.

BUOYED CABLE OFF LITTLE AKALOA BAY, BANKS PENINSULA.

THE master of the cutter “Lily” reports having slipped her anchor and 85 fathoms of cable (which was buoyed) when Decanter Rocks bore S. 22° W., and Le Bon’s Bay (probably Pa Point) bore S. 51° E.

Passing steamers are warned to give the position a wide berth on account of risk of fouling their propellers.

ARGENTINA.

PLATA RIVER ENTRANCE.—LIGHT-BUOYS ESTABLISHED.—FURTHER INFORMATION.—Referring to Notices to Mariners Nos. 14 (537) and 22 (873) of 1908, the Argentine Government has given notice that six light-buoys, constituting a continuation of the buoyage of the main ship-channel, have been moored near Point Indio light-vessel, Plata River entrance.

These buoys are moored in pairs about 2½ miles apart, and mark the channel for a distance of about 9 miles from the turn at Point Indio light-vessel toward Intermedio light-vessel. The buoys on the starboard side of the channel are painted red and show intermittent red lights, while those on the port side are painted black and show intermittent white lights.

WASHINGTON.

SAN JUAN ISLAND.—ROCHE HARBOUR ENTRANCE.—ROCK REMOVED.—Major H. M. Chittenden, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, reports that the 17 ft. rock in the northern entrance to Roche Harbour, San Juan Island, between Pearl and Henry Islands, has been removed to a depth of 26 ft. at the mean of the lower low waters.

Approximate position on H.O. Chart No. 1769: Latitude 48° 37′ 05″ N., longitude 123° 10′ 14″ W.
