places on the spurs. The soil is of fair quality, on rock formation, sparsely watered by small creeks.
The improvements comprise 20 acres grassed, 148 chains fencing, draining, plantations, house (five rooms with scul- lery), woolshed, sheep-yards, concrete tank and dip, shed, &c.
ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. One half-year's rent, £1 1s. lease fee, and the value of improvements to be deposited by purchaser on the fall of hammer.
  2. The term of the lease shall be fourteen years from the lst July, 1908.
  3. In the event of any other person than the present lessee being successful in purchasing the new lease, pos- session will be given on the lst May, 1908, and the present lessee will be allowed until that date to remove his stock and any effects not included in valuation for improvements.
    In addition to paying one half-year's rent from the 1st July, 1908, the new purchaser will require to deposit rent at same rate for broken period between date of obtaining pos- session and said date.
  4. Rental is payable half-yearly, in advance, on the 1st January and 1st July in each year.
  5. Lessee to prevent destruction or burning of timber, growth and spread of broom, sweetbriar, or other noxious weeds or plants, keep down rabbits, and refrain from burning grass during such months as the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall from time to time determine.
  6. Lessee to have no right to the timber, flax, or minerals on or in the land comprised in the lease.
  7. With the permission of the Land Board the lessee may--
    (a.) Cultivate a portion of the reserve and grow winter feed thereon;
    (b.) Plough and sow in grass any area;
    (c.) Clear of bush or scrub any portion of the reserve and sow same in grass;
    (d.) Surface-sow in grass any portion of the reserve.
  8. On expiry of lease the value of lessee's improvements will be fixed and protected.
  9. Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.

    General Description.
    These runs are situated on the western sea-coast between the Patea and Manawatu Rivers. They are very similar in character, comprising sandhills for the most part, and flats with sparse vegetation of tawhine, fern, rushes, native grasses, &c. Areas of from 200 to 250 acres on Runs 5, 6, 7, and of about 450 acres on Run 24, have been successfully planted with marram-grass.
    Valuations for improvements must be paid to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Wellington, before licensees will be let into possession.

    This allotment is situated in the Marshall Village Settlement, adjoining the Kiwitea Stream, on the main Ohingaiti-Rangiwhahia Road. The access is from Ohingaiti Township and railway-station, which are about eight miles distant by Ohingaiti-Rangiwhahia Road, which is formed for dray traffic and partly metalled. The Township of Rangiwhahia is also within three miles of the allotment, which comprises very easy-undulating and level land, all of which is an old natural clearing roughly grassed with English grasses. The soil is of fair quality, resting on clay-and-papa formation.
    Wanganui County.--Mataroa Village Settlement.

    Situated on the main road from Taihape to Mataroa, about three-quarters of a mile from the latter place. Comprises hilly and easy-sloping land, with enough flat for a building-site and some flax and cabbage-trees. Good soil on papa formation.
    West Taupo County.--Manunui Village Settlement.

    Manunui Village Settlement is situated on the North Island Main Trunk Railway line. The access is from Manunui Railway-station, which is about 25 chains distant by formed dray-road. The section comprises open land, one half being dry, covered with fern and manuka, the other half being swampy. The soil is of a light volcanic nature, resting on pumice formation.
