Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Pembroke Road No. 3 Special-rating District, comprising part Section 52 (266 acres), Sections 9, 12, part 13 (80 acres), 14, 106, 39, 8, 6, 7, 4, 5, 3, 2, and 1, all in Block IV, Kaupokonui Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

THE following special order, made by the Woodville Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WOODVILLE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Woodville Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,500 for a period of forty-one years at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum, authorised to be raised by the Woodville Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the construction of an additional reservoir with a capacity of 400,000 gallons, more or less, and to lay water-mains in the following streets—in Sowry Road, 12 chains; in Ferguson Street, 33 chains; in Normanby Street, 14 chains; in Bowen Street, 16 chains, all of the above lengths being a little more or less—the said Woodville Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4¾d. in the pound upon the annual rateable value of all rateable property in that part of the Borough of Woodville which is bounded on the north by Sowry Road, on the east by Pinfold Road, again on the north by Vogel Street, again on the east by Rural Section No. 70, on the south generally by the Mangataua River; on the west by Rural Section No. 123; again on the north by Rural Section No. 120, and again on the west by Rural Sections Nos. 120 and 8; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 30th day of September and the 31st day of March in each year and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the special order passed at a special meeting of the Woodville Borough Council held on Tuesday, the 17th day of December, 1907, and was duly confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the Council held on Thursday, the 16th day of January, 1908.

OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Opotiki County, taken on Saturday, the 11th January, 1908, upon the proposal of the Opotiki County Council to raise a special loan of £5,400 as part of a joint special loan of £6,000 in conjunction with the Opotiki Town Board, for a term of forty-one years, at £3 10s. per centum per annum, for the formation, construction, and metalling of roads in the Opotiki County, the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was as follows:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 83; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 19.

As the total number of valid votes recorded for the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that a poll of ratepayers of the Opotiki Town District, taken on Saturday, the 11th January, 1908, upon the proposal of the Opotiki Town Board to raise a special loan of £600 (to be expended in two successive years) as part of a joint special loan of £6,000 in conjunction with the Opotiki County Council, for a term of forty-one years, at £3 10s. per centum per annum, for the formation, construction, and metalling of roads in the Opotiki County, the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was as follows:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 39; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 6.

As the total number of valid votes recorded for the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

By-law for New Zealand Government Railways.—Regulating the Weight of Grain to be carried in any Sack.

PURSUANT to and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 (5) (i) of “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, the Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following by-law regulating the weight of grain to be carried in any sack, and imposing a penal rate of charges for excess in respect of such weight:—

BY-LAW.

  1. On and after the 1st day of February, 1909, the maximum weight of any sack containing wheat, barley, or oats to be carried by railway shall be 200 lb.

Any sack of wheat, barley, or oats containing a greater weight than 200 lb. shall be charged for at four times the ordinary rate of freight.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” that the roads described in the Schedule hereto were, on the 14th May, 1904, and 7th December, 1906, duly taken and laid off through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 1st July, 1903.
