THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Westport, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

J. G. WARD,
Minister of Finance.

I, JAMES HORACE GREENWOOD, Mayor of the Borough of Westport, in the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, pursuant to the provisions of section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” give you notice that on the 9th day of January, 1908, a poll was taken, under the provisions of the said Act, on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow by way of special loan, under the provisions of the said Act, the sum of £5,000, a copy of which proposal is next hereinafter set out:—

WESTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Proposed Special Loan of £5,000.

The Westport Borough Council hereby gives public notice that such Council propose to borrow, by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and of all other powers (if any) enabling the Council in that behalf, the sum of £5,000, to be expended in the extension and enlargement of the Corporation gasworks.

The Council proposes to make and pledge an annual-recurring special rate of ½d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the Borough of Westport as security for the said loan of £5,000 and the interest thereon and the sinking fund in connection therewith.

It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable on the expiration of twenty years, computed from the 14th day of November, 1907. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan, or the first year’s interest thereon.

I, James Horace Greenwood, of the Town of Westport, Bookseller and Stationer, Mayor of the Borough of Westport, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:—
