That bridge over the Wairoa River at Clyde, in the Wairoa County; as the site of the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 9220, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1903,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act, or in any Crown grant or other instrument of title, the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Board, remove any restriction on the alienation of land owned by Maoris: Provided that the decision of the Governor on any recommendation of the Board shall be given within six months from the date of the receipt of such recommendation:

And whereas the Aotea District Maori Land Board, by a recommendation made and passed by the said Board on the twenty-third day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and received on the twenty-second day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seven, recommended the Governor to remove and revoke the restrictions against alienation contained in the instrument of title of the block of land particularised and set out in the Schedule hereto, so far as to permit the said land to be sold:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon and vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities me thereunto enabling, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Aotea District Maori Land Board aforesaid, do hereby remove and revoke the restrictions now existing against the alienation of the said land, so far as to permit the same to be sold.


SCHEDULE.

All that piece or parcel of land, containing 1 acre 3 roods 21 perches, more or less, and bounded on the east by the Ngawhakaraua 1B Block, 1945·1 links; on the north by a road, 214·2 links; on the west by the other part of the Ngawhakaraua 1A Block, 1781·5 links; and on the south by the Aorangi 3H Block, 48·8 links and 90 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less: being part of the block of land known as Ngawhakaraua 1A, situate in the Wellington Land District, and comprised in a partition order of the Native Land Court dated the 13th day of September, 1893, and issued subject to the restriction that the land comprised therein shall be “inalienable.”

Volunteer Regulations amended.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend Regulation 396 of the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that such amended regulation shall come into force on the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight.


SCHEDULE.

  1. REGULATION 396, “SCHEDULE OF ALLOWANCES.”

Regulation 396 is hereby amended by deleting column 1 under the heading “Designation of Battery,” and also by deleting whole of paragraph (d) under the heading “Details of Parades,” and substituting the following as part of the Schedule of Allowances:—

Volunteer Regulations amended.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, by adding thereto the additional amendment set out in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that such additional amendment shall take effect, and come into force on the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

RAILWAY-PASSES.

REGULATION 425.—After the word “to” on first line add “members of the Permanent Force and.”

Appointment of Trustees, Ashburton Drill-shed.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1885,” “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Act, 1888,” “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Trustees Validation Act, 1890,” and “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1907” (hereinafter termed “the said Acts”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Lieutenant-Colonel WALTER MONTAGUE MOORE, V.D., Active List;
Major WALTER EDWIN DOLMAN, V.D., Retired List;
Captain ALFRED AUGUSTUS FOOKS, V.D., Active List;
and
Captain HENRY CLIFFORD PERCY, Ashburton Guards Rifle Volunteers,

to be Trustees of all that piece or parcel of land in the Town of Ashburton, containing 2 roods 2 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1243 and 1244. Bounded northward by Burnett Street, eastward by Park Street, southward by Short Street, and westward by Section No. 1242, and numbered 2540 (in red) on the official map of the Town of Ashburton, in the Survey Office, Christchurch; together with all buildings erected thereon; to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Acts. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Ashburton Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the sixteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
