DESCRIPTION OF RUN.

Altitude, from 1,200 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level. About 600 acres mixed forest, comprising tawa, rata, matai, hinau, with dense undergrowth of mahoe, supplejack, and matapo; balance undulating country, covered with fern and tea-tree. Soil inferior sand and pumice; well watered by Waikato River and tributary streams. The run has over six miles frontage to Waikato River, and is distant about six miles from Atiamuri Post-office and hotel by good buggy and cart road. The Taupo Totara Timber Company’s railway-line from Putaruru passes within one mile of the run.

All hot springs, fumaroles, ngawas, geysers, mud volcanoes, and other centres of thermal action with right of way thereto are specially excluded from the area offered.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned village-homestead allotments are open for selection on renewable lease under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and amendments; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 16th day of September, 1908.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. The lands enumerated above are first-class lands, and are village-homestead allotments, open for selection on renewable lease under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and its amendments.

  2. The rentals stated above shall be the prices at which the lands shall be open for selection.

  3. Applications for leases shall be made in manner as provided in Part I of the said Act; and all such applications shall be made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland; and leases will be issued in accordance with the provisions of Part I aforesaid.

  4. Each applicant shall state his or her residence, occupation, and condition in life (namely, whether married or single), and will be required to make the prescribed declaration.

  5. Each applicant shall pay the first half-year’s rent, the value of the improvements, and the lease and registration fee (£1 1s.), immediately the application has been approved or declared successful at the ballot; also the rent for the period elapsing between the date of the lease and the due date of such half-yearly payment.

  6. All rents must be paid half-yearly, in advance, on the 1st days of January and July in each year, as provided in section 157 of the said Act; and the first half-year’s rent is payable as before provided.

  7. Improvements and residence on the land comprised in each lease shall be as provided in Part III of the said Act. The provisions of section 144, and all other provisions of the said Act with respect to substantial improvements, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations. The provisions of section 141, and all other provisions of the said Act in respect of compulsory residence, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations.

  8. No lessee shall divide, sublet, or transfer the land held by him under these regulations, except under and subject to the provisions of Part I of the said Act.

  9. No lessee shall hold more than one allotment, and such allotment shall be held for his or her sole use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any other person whomsoever. Each section is an allotment. No married woman shall be eligible as a selector; but this provision shall not apply to any married woman who may become a transferee under a will or by virtue of an intestacy.

  10. All the provisions of the said Act, so far as applicable, shall extend and apply to the lands affected by these regulations, and to the applications and leases to be made and issued thereunder, and generally to the interests created, and the persons whose rights, liabilities, or interests are thereby affected; and the mention of any particular provision of the said Act shall not be deemed to exclude any other provision of the said Act applicable to the particular case.

Lands in Culverden Settlement, Canterbury Land District, open for Selection on Renewable Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for selection on renewable lease under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and their amendments, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 2nd day of September, 1908.

Situated in the north-eastern part of the Culverden Settlement, from two and a half to six miles distant from the Culverden Township and railway-station, by the main Culverden-Waiau coach-road. Section 1 comprises 237 acres of fairly good agricultural land in grass, the balance being strong tussock plain. Section 7 comprises 70 acres of fairly good agricultural land in grass, the balance being stony tussock plain; this section is watered by water-races. The altitude is about 600 ft. above sea-level. On Section 1 there is fencing to the value of £65 16s. 3d., and on Section 7 fencing to the value of £216 10s.: these amounts are included in the capital values of the sections.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District liable to Forfeiture.

Christchurch, 21st July, 1908.

PURSUANT to section 215 of “The Land Act, 1892,” notice is hereby given that the licenses of the pastoral runs mentioned in the Schedule hereto are liable to forfeiture, and that if the rent overdue thereon, together with the full amount of the penalty for non-payment at due date, be not paid within three months from the date hereof, the licenses will be declared forfeited.
