Lands proclaimed as a Road, and Road closed, in Block X,
Opaheke Survey District, Paparata Road District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," and its
amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consent
of the owners and of the lessee of the lands mentioned
in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Paparata
Road Board, being the local authority in whose district
the said lands are situated, proclaim as a road the lands
in Opaheke Survey District described in the First Schedule
hereto; and also do hereby, with the like consents as afore-
said, proclaim as closed the road described in the Second
Schedule hereto, which is not required by reason of the road
first hereinbefore proclaimed.

Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land

Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of July, in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred

1903," and "The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act,
1906."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Scenery Preservation Amend-
ment Act, 1906" (hereinafter referred to as "the
said Act"), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted,
and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by
the Minister of Lands, inspect any lands possessing scenic
or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs,

and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the
Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what
lands, whether Crown or private, should be permanently
reserved as. scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And
whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and
report on the parcels of land described in the Schedule
hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should
be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is ex-
pedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the parcels of land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve
under "The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903," and shall be
subject to the provisions of that Act and "The Scenery
Preservation Amendment Act, 1906."

SCHEDULE.

PONGAROA SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, con-
taining by admeasurement 5 acres 1 rood 35 perches,
more or less, being Sections Nos. 1 to 12, Block IV, Town
of Pongaroa. Bounded towards the north-east by Piwaka-
waka Street, towards the south-east by Korora Street,
towards the south-west by Rewarewa Street, and towards
the north-west by Huiru Street.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, con-
taining by admeasurement 2 acres 3 roods 11 perches,
more or less, being Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13,
Block VII, Town of Pongaroa. Bounded towards the north-
east by Piwakawaka Street; towards the south-east by
Sections Nos. 17, 16, 15, 14, and 4, Block VII, Town of
Pongaroa; towards the south-west by Rewarewa Street;
and towards the north-west by Korora Street.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing
by admeasurement 48 acres 1 rood 38 perches, more or less,
being parts of Sections Nos. 1 and 5 and Sections Nos. 6 to
16, inclusive, Block XII ; parts of Sections Nos. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
8, 9, and Sections Nos. 11, 13, and part of Section No. 14,
Block XIII; part of Section No. 16 and Sections Nos. 14
and 18 to 24, inclusive, Block IX, Town of Pongaroa;
Section No. 14, Suburbs of Pongaroa; and roads within the
above area stopped by Proclamation dated 18th February,
1908, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 12, of
the 20th February, 1908, page 608. Bounded towards the
north-east by Piwakawaka Street, the abutment of the said
street, and by Section No. 43, Pongaroa Village Settlement;
towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 14 and 2, Block IX,
Mount Cerberus Survey District; towards the south-west
and again towards the south-east by Section No. 15, Suburbs
of Pongaroa; towards the west generally by the Pongaroa
River-bank Road, the Tararingahuata Stream, Section No. 2,
Block XIII, Town of Pongaroa, and again by the said
stream.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. 326/2,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

WHEREAS by the seventy-third section of "The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1901" (herein termed "the said
Act"), it is, amongst other things, enacted that before
certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon
any block of land it shall be necessary that the same be
proclaimed as set apart for settlement:
