Allocating to the Purposes of a Road Land in Block VIII,
Tauhoa Survey District, taken for a Railway.

PLUNKET, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of the
Helensville Northwards Railway, and it has been considered
desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road :
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for
Public Works that such land is not required for railway
purposes: And whereas such land is situated in Rodney
County, the local authority of which has consented to the
issue of this Proclamation and appears to be the local
authority most capable of conveniently and effectively con-
trolling and maintaining the said road :
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by
section one hundred and ninety-seven of “The Public Works
Act, 1905,” and of every other power and authority in any-
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall,
upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette,
become a road, and that the said road shall be maintained
by the Rodney County Council in like manner as other
public highways are controlled and maintained by the said
Council.

P.W.D. 22006, deposited in the office of the Minister for
Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Go-
vernor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its
Dependencies ; and issued under the Seal of the
said Dominion, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this fourteenth day of July, in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and
eight.

Land in Block I, Oroua Survey District, taken for the
Purposes of a Public School.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1905,” for a certain public work, to wit, the construction
of a public school at Tokorangi :
And whereas the Education Board of Hawke’s Bay has
laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a
map, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1905” :
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Go-
vernor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers of “The Public Works Act, 1905,”
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for
the purpose of the said public school as aforesaid, and shall,
as from the date hereinafter specified, vest in the Education
Board of Wanganui ; and it is hereby declared that this
Proclamation shall take effect on and after the 31st day of
July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Change of Name of Borough of Hawksbury to Borough of Waikouaiti.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Council of the Borough of Hawksbury
has, by resolution adopted at an ordinary meeting
thereof, requested that the name of that borough be altered
from “Hawksbury” to “Waikouaiti” :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred on me by “The Designation of
Districts Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket,
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the name of the borough now
known as “Hawksbury” shall be and the same is hereby
altered to “Waikouaiti,” and do assign the last-mentioned
name to such borough accordingly ; and also do hereby
proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect
on and after the first day of January, one thousand nine
hundred and nine, not being earlier than six months after
the first publication thereof in the Gazette.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an act passed in the session of Parlia-
ment held in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of
the reign of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, entitled “An
Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of
New Zealand,” it is, among other things, enacted that no
Bill which shall be reserved for the signification of the
Sovereign’s pleasure thereon shall have any force or authority
within the Colony of New Zealand until the Governor of
the said colony shall signify by speech or message to the
Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the
