Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Street in Borough of Whangarei.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land reserved and taken for the pur-
poses of the Whangarei-Kamo Railway, and it is considered
desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a street:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for
Railways that such land is not required for railway pur-
poses: And whereas such land is situated in the Borough
of Whangarei, the local authority of which has assented to
the issue of this Proclamation:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said street:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
section one hundred and ninety-seven of "The Public
Works Act, 1905," and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto
shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand
Gazette, become a street, and that the said street shall be
under the control of the Corporation of the Borough of
Whangarei, and shall be maintained by the said Corporation
in like manner as other public highways are controlled and
maintained by the said Corporation.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District being a
portion of railway land situated in the Town of Whangarei,
containing 2 roods 5 perches, more or less, and being
bounded as follows: On the north-west by Duke Street, a
distance of 11·6 links; on the north-east by Rose Street, a
distance of 549·4 links; on the south-east by Walton Street,
a distance of 239·1 links; and on the south-west by a straight
line, a distance of 441·4 links: as the said parcel of land is
more particularly delineated on the plan marked 16216,
deposited in the office of the Minister for Railways, at
Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Go-
vernor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and
its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of
the said Dominion, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this second day of May, in the year
of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and
eight.

Constituting the Borough of Dargaville, County of Hobson.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1900," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare
the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a borough
under the said Act on and from the first day of July, one
thousand nine hundred and eight; that the name of such
borough shall be the Borough of Dargaville; that the said
borough shall be an undivided borough; and that the
number of Councillors to be elected thereto shall be six,
exclusive of the Mayor.

And I do further proclaim and declare that Vernon
Gregory Lambert, of Dargaville, shall be the Returning
Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Coun-
cillors of the said borough; and that the said Vernon
Gregory Lambert shall be the Town Clerk and the person
to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the
said first election.

And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first
election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall
be held on Wednesday, the twenty-second day of July, one
thousand nine hundred and eight; and that the first meet-
ing of the Council of the said borough shall be held on
Wednesday, the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand
nine hundred and eight, at two o'clock in the afternoon, at
the Public Library, at Dargaville.

SCHEDULE.
BOROUGH OF DARGAVILLE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District situated in
Blocks XII and XV, Kaihu Survey District, and Blocks
IX and XIII, Maungaru Survey District, Hobson County.
Commencing at the junction of the Awakino River with the
Northern Wairoa River: bounded towards the south-east
by the Northern Wairoa River to its junction with the
Kaihu River; thence towards the east by the Northern
Wairoa River aforesaid to the southern boundary of Aoroa
No. 1 Block; towards the south by the southern boundary
of Aoroa No. 1 Block aforesaid to the Dargaville-Aratapu
Road; thence by a line across the said road, and by the
Mount Wesley Road to the western boundary of Aoroa
No. 1 Block aforesaid; thence by the western boundary of
the last-mentioned block, 294 links; thence by the southern
and western boundaries of Sections 1A and 1 of the Aoroa
Block and the southern boundaries of Sections 19 to 26 of
the said block, and by the southern and western boundaries
of Section 27 of the aforesaid block to a road 100 links
wide; thence across the said road, following the western
boundary of Section 28 and the southern boundaries of
Sections 32, 33, and 34 of the said Aoroa Block to a road;
thence following that road to a road reserve at the southern-
most corner of Section 26 of the said block; thence by the
southern boundaries of Sections 23 and 20 of the same block
to a road, and crossing the said road; thence by the south-
west boundaries of Sections 10 and 12 of the same block;
towards the north-west by the north-west boundary-lines of
the last-mentioned section to the Mangao Stream; thence
along the said stream to its junction with the Kaihu River;
thence by the said Kaihu River to the north-west boundary
of the southern part of Kaihu No. 2B3; thence by the said
north-west boundary to the Dargaville-Tangiteroria Road;
towards the east by the last-mentioned road; again towards
the north-west by the north-west boundary of those parts
of Kaihu No. 2B1 shown on certain plans deposited in the
Deeds Office, at Auckland, under numbers 2250A and 2080A;
and towards the north-east by the Awakino River to the
commencing-point: as the same is delineated on the plan
marked L. S. 11538, deposited in the Head Office, Depart-
ment of Lands, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District, and thereon edged red.

Eden.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by "The Town Districts Act,
1904," that, notwithstanding the repeal by "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," of "The Town Districts
Act, 1881," and "The Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment
Act, 1883," the Governor may, in the manner prescribed by
"The Town Districts Act, 1881," declare that any area
wherein there are not less than fifty householders shall be
a town district, and thereupon the last-mentioned Act, and
also "The Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1883,"
shall be in force in such town district: And whereas a
petition has been presented to the Governor by the in-
habitants within the area mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto, praying that such area may be constituted
a town district under "The Town Districts Act, 1881":
And whereas the number of householders within such area
is not less than fifty:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by
"The Town Districts Act, 1904," and "The Town Districts"
