Admiralty Charts that have received large corrections:—

PACIFIC OCEAN.

New Guinea.

Waigiu Isl.—A bank, carrying 6 fms., exists in 0° 25½' S.,
130° 6¼' E., S.-wrd. of Waigin Isl., with Batang Pale Isl.
summit N. 34° E. 10 miles, and Great Fram Isl. summit
S. 46° E. Feb.

New Ireland (Neu Mecklenburg).—Käwieng (Nusa)
Harb.—A pinnacle rk., carrying 11 ft., exists in 2° 34' S.,
150° 47¼' E., in the nrn. entr. to the harb., with Nusa obser.
spot S. 69° W. 4¾ cables, and Käwieng white beacon
S. 50° E. A white triangle, pt. down, has been placed on
the front or nrn. beacon (red) on a shoal 8½ cables N. 5° E.
from Nissel Pass beacon. Feb.

Solomon Islands.

Ysabel Island.—Ramos Isl.—Ramos Isl., off the E. coast
of Ysabel Isl., has been ascertained to be in 8° 17½' S.,
160° 10¼' E., or about 9 miles S. 54° E. from the charted
position.

NOTE.—Ramos Isl., with surrounding dangers, soundings,
and remarks, have therefore been transferred on Chart
No. 214 to the above position, but on Chart No. 3403 they
have been erased. March.

New Caledonia.

Prony Bay.—The black conical buoy in 22° 23½' S.,
166° 51½' E., marking Moziman Reef on the wrn. side of the
entr. to the bay, has been withdrawn. March.

Society Islands.

Raiatea.—Téavarua Harb.—The beacon on the islet in
16° 45' S., 151° 25' W., and the beacon on the coast, which
in line S. 44° W. prev. led through the S. pass into the
harb., no longer exists. March.

Hawaiian (Sandwich) Islands.

Hawaii.—Hilo Bay.—The following buoys are est. in the
bay: a. A can buoy, marked “No. 5,” in 7 fms., moored
off the srn. edge of Blonde Reef, with the tower of the
Roman Catholic Church (19° 43¾' N., 155° 5¼' W.), Hilo,
S. 44° W. 11½ cables, and the N. pt. of Cocoanut Isl. S. 34°
E. b. A conical buoy, marked “No. 2,” in 6¼ fms., moored
off the nrn. end of the reef extending from Cocoanut Isl.,
with the tower of the Roman Catholic Church S. 58° W.
11¾ cables, and the N. pt. of Cocoanut Isl. S. 17° E. The
colour of these buoys is not stated. March.

SOUTH AMERICA.

Rio de la Plata.—San Clemente Bay.—The following
buoys mark the chan. to San Clemente Bay, which carries
10 ft., on the wrn. side of Cape San Antonio: a. A white
spher. buoy, in 11 ft., 6¾ miles N. 29° W. from Cape San
Antonio Lt.-h. (36° 19½' S., 56° 46' W.). b. A white truncated conical buoy, in 12 ft., 4¼ miles N. 13° W. from the
lt.-h. These buoys mark the nrn. side of Cabo Bank, and
should be left on the starb. hand when approaching the bay.
c. A red conical buoy, in 15 ft., 2¼ miles N. 31° E. from the
lt.-h. d. A red conical buoy surm. by a ball, in 12 ft., 1¾
miles N. 25° E. from the lt.-h. e. A red conical buoy surm.
by a ball, in 17 ft., 1 mile N. 15° E. from the lt.-h. These
buoys should be left on the port hand when approaching the
bay. The name “San Clemente Bay” has been added to
the chart. March.

Notice to Mariners No. 31 of 1908.

BLUFF HARBOUR.—NEW BEACONS WITH LEADING-LIGHTS
ESTABLISHED.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 5th May, 1908.

THE Bluff Harbour Board have given notice that two
leading-beacons have been established, one on the
point near the Tewaewae Rocks, and one further up the
beach to the north-eastward, showing bright white lights
along the fairway of the south channel. The beacons when
in line bear N. 5° E. The lights are Wigham lights, and
should be visible in clear weather at a distance of about six
miles.

Two more beacons, also with Wigham lights, but with red
rays, which should be visible four miles, have been placed
on the harbour side of the entrance for the next bend in the
channel, the front light being on Tewaewae Point, and the
rear one about 220 yards to north-westward of it. These
beacons in line bear N. 32° W.

Lights with green rays have also been established for the
two leading-beacons on the middle bank, bearing in line
N. 68° W.

and 2553; “New Zealand Pilot,” 1901, seventh edition,
Chapter ix, page 314; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,”
1908, pages 193 and 295–6.

Varied Notice (No. 2) exempting Fruiterers’, Confectioners’,
Fishmongers’, and Cycle Repairers’ Shops in the Borough
of Inglewood from Requisition fixing Closing-hours.

WHEREAS by notice dated the 1st day of February,
1907, and gazetted on the 7th day of February, 1907,
the Minister of Labour, in exercise of the powers in that
behalf conferred upon him by section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905,” and acting in accordance with
a requisition duly made and certified by that section, did
direct that from and after the 1st day of April, 1907, all
shops in the Borough of Inglewood be closed at 5.30 p.m.
on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and at
9.30 p.m. on Saturdays, during the months of April, May,
June, July, and August: And whereas by a like requisition,
duly made and certified as aforesaid, he has been requested
to vary the said notice by exempting fruiterers’, confectioners’,
fishmongers’, and cycle repairers’ shops from closing under
such requisition:

Now, therefore, in compliance with the last-mentioned
requisition, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon
me by section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,”
and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment
Act, 1905,” I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, do
hereby vary the said notice by directing that from and after
the 11th day of May, 1908, all fruiterers’, confectioners’,
fishmongers’, and cycle repairers’ shops in the Borough of
Inglewood shall be exempted accordingly.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops in the Borough
of Palmerston North under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops
in the Borough of Palmerston North, has been forwarded to
me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be
closed at the hour of 5.30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays, and Fridays, and at 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and
1 p.m. on Wednesdays: And whereas the Borough Council
of Palmerston North has certified that the signatures to
such requisition represent the total number of the occupiers
of all butchers’ shops in the Borough of Palmerston North:

Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, the Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and
Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that
from and after the 11th day of May, 1908, all butchers’
shops in the Borough of Palmerston North shall be closed
in accordance with such requisition. (The weekly half-
holiday is on Wednesday, from 1 o’clock in the afternoon.)

Notice of Half-holiday (for Boys under Eighteen Years of
Age and Women) in the Borough of Woodville under the
Factories Act Amendment Act, 1907; Section 15.

WHEREAS a poll of the electors of the Borough of
Woodville has been taken on a proposal that the
weekly half-holiday provided for by section 33 of “The
Factories Act, 1901,” should be allowed in that borough
on the same day as the day appointed as the statutory
closing-day for shops in that borough: And whereas a
majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of
the said proposal:
