Notice to Local Authorities under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

The Treasury,
Wellington, 29th April, 1908.

PURSUANT to section 63 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Minister of Finance hereby gives notice that on Monday, the 18th May, 1908, he will be prepared to consider applications from local authorities for loans under this Act.

Applications should be addressed to the Minister of Finance, and must be posted so as to arrive at the Treasury by the 14th May, 1908.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Waimarino.

THE following special order, made by the Waimarino County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Waimarino County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Waimarino County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for formation of streets, footpaths, and graveling same, in the Township of Ohakune, the said Waimarino County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Ohakune Special-rating District, comprising Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4, Ohakune Township, Makotuku Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, to be payable half yearly on the 1st day of October and the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that the preliminary expenses incurred in connection with the raising of the loan and the first year’s interest shall be paid out of the loan.

I, Philip George Smith, Chairman of the Waimarino County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Waimarino County Council held on the 8th day of February, 1908, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Waimarino County Council held on the 14th day of March, 1908.

In testimony whereof the common seal of the Waimarino County Council has been hereunto affixed.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Collingwood.

COUNTY OF COLLINGWOOD.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Aorere Riding.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively, the Collingwood County Council hereby resolves as follows, on the motion of Councillor J. W. Riley, seconded by Councillor Jeffries:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and all other charges on a special loan of £1,750, authorised to be raised by the said Collingwood County Council (pursuant to a poll of ratepayers of the said riding), under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts and their amendments, for providing half the cost of a new steel superstructure for the cart-bridge over the Aorere River at Rockville, in the said riding, the said Collingwood County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon all the rateable property contained in the said Riding of Aorere, in the said county; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st days of February and August in each year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

And that the said resolution be submitted to an ordinary meeting of the said Council to be held at the County Council Office on Monday, the 6th day of May, 1907, at 10 a.m., for confirmation as a special order.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made by the said County Council at a special meeting held on the 2nd day of April, 1907, and confirmed at a meeting of the said Council held on the 6th day of May, 1907.

THE following special order, made by the Wellington City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

The Wellington City Overdraft and Sinking Fund Loan 1898 Repayment Loan, 1908.

WHEREAS the sum of £51,000 was borrowed by the Wellington City Corporation, as constituted in 1898, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897,” and their respective amendments, for payment of overdraft and completion of sundry works: And whereas the said sum of £51,000 is payable on the 30th day of June, 1908, and the sum of £48,000 is required to pay off the said loan: Now, therefore, the Wellington City Council doth hereby, in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and their respective amendments, and in exercise of all other powers enabling it or vested in it in that behalf, resolve by special order, first, to borrow the sum of £48,000, repayable on the 30th day of June, 1933, or such earlier date as may be determined by the Council; secondly, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on the said loan of £48,000, authorised to be raised, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and their respective amendments, and in exercise of all other powers enabling it or vested in it in that behalf, for the purpose of paying off the said loan of £51,000, the Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¾d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in that part of the present City of Wellington which was known as the City of Wellington prior to its amalgamation with the Borough of Melrose, the boundaries of which land are set forth in the Schedule to this resolution; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and to be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of October and the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years, or such shorter period as may be determined by the Council, or until the loan is fully paid off.

SCHEDULE.

The boundaries commence at a point where the north-eastern boundary of the land forming part of the Harbour of Port Nicholson, and granted by deed of grant dated the eighteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, to the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, joins the Hutt Road, and extending from thence along the said road to a point due east of the eastern extremity of the southern boundary of Section No. 1, Harbour District; thence across the Hutt Road to the eastern extremity of the southern boundary of the said Section No. 1, Harbour District; thence the city is bounded by the said Section
