LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll for Loan of £18,000.
In the matter of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,"
and of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," and the
Acts amending the same respectively.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 8th day of April, 1908, a
proposal was submitted by the Levin Borough Council to the
ratepayers of the Borough of Levin for raising a special loan
of £18,000 for the purpose of constructing waterworks for the
said borough, and that the number of votes recorded respec-
tively for and against the said proposal was as follows: For,
190; against, 17; informal, 3.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Forbidding the Issue of Money-orders and the Transmission of
Correspondence for the National Agency, Melbourne.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing
that the agency whose name and address are shown in
the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the
treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby
ordered, under section 9 of "The Post Office Act Amend-
ment Act, 1906," that no money-order in favour of the
said agency shall be issued, and that no postal packet ad-
dressed to the said agency (either by its own or any
fictitious or assumed name), or to such address without a
name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by
the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of all Shops in the Road District
of Mount Hutt under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a ma-
jority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Road
District of Mount Hutt, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all shops in the road district shall be closed as follows:
Monday, 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 p.m.; Wednesday (statutory
half-holiday), 1 p.m.; Thursday, 8 p.m.; Friday, 8 p.m.:
And whereas the Mount Hutt Road Board has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in the road district:
Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, the Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of "The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904," and section 5 of "The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905," do hereby direct that from and
after the 27th day of April, 1908, all shops in the Road
District of Mount Hutt shall be closed in accordance with
such requisition.

Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in the Town
District of Pukekohe.
WHEREAS by notice dated the 20th day of May,
1907, and gazetted on the 23rd day of May, 1907,
the Minister of Labour, in exercise of the powers in that
behalf conferred upon him by section 21 of "The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904," and section 5 of "The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905," and acting in accordance with
a requisition duly made and certified as required by those
sections, did direct that from and after the 1st day of June,
1907, all shops, excepting fruiterers, in the Town District of
Pukekohe should be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thurs-
days, and Fridays at 7.30 p.m., on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.,
and on Saturdays (the weekly half-holiday) at 1 p.m. in each
week, except as provided in section 16 of "The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904": And whereas by a like requisition, duly
made and certified as aforesaid, he has been requested to
vary the said notice by fixing the closing-hours of all shops,
with the exception of fruiterers, bakers, and hairdressing-
saloons, as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
and Thursdays at 6.30 p.m.; on Friday at 8 p.m.; on
Saturdays at 1 p.m.:
Now, therefore, in compliance with the last-mentioned
requisition, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon
me by section 21 of "The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,"
and section 5 of "The Shops and Offices Act Amendment
Act, 1905," I do hereby vary the said notice by directing that
on and after the 27th day of April, 1908, all shops, with the
exception of fruiterers, bakers, and hairdressing-saloons, in
the Town District of Pukekohe shall be closed in accordance
with the last-mentioned requisition. (The weekly half-
holiday is on Saturday.)
