"THE COMPANIES ACT, 1903."

In the matter of the North Canterbury Co-operative Stores Company (Limited).

AT an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened, and held at the registered office of the company, in High Street, in Rangiora, on the twenty-fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight, the following special resolutions were respectively duly passed; and at a subsequent extraordinary general meeting of the members of the said company, also duly convened, and held at the same place on the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight, the said following special resolutions were respectively duly confirmed, namely:—

"(1.) That it is expedient to effect an amalgamation of this company with the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association of Canterbury (Limited), and that, with a view thereto, this company be wound up voluntarily; and that GEORGE WILLIAM HULME, of Christchurch, Accountant, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

"(2.) That the conditional agreement submitted to this meeting and expressed to be made between James Carmichael, of Rangiora, on behalf of the North Canterbury Co-operative Stores Company (Limited), of the one part, and the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association of Canterbury (Limited), of the other part, be and the same is hereby approved, and that the Liquidator be and he is hereby authorised, pursuant to section 259 of 'The Companies Act, 1903,' to adopt the said agreement and carry the same into effect, with such, if any, modifications as the said Liquidator may think expedient."

OTAMATEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

IT is hereby notified that the above Council propose to take land for a public road, under provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1905," through Sections W. 33, 34, W. 37, E. 37, Parish of Omaru, Block XII, Tokatoka Survey District, owned by Kenneth Finlayson, F. H. B. Nicholls, and Henry Roberts.

All persons affected by the proposal are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections thereto, and lodge same at the County Office, Paparoa, within forty days from the first publication of this notice.

A plan showing the road proposed to be taken may be seen at the County Office, Paparoa.

BY-LAWS, COUNTY OF MANGONUI.

IN pursuance of "The Counties Act, 1886," and of the Counties Act Amendment Acts, 1903, 1904, and of all other powers and authorities thereunder enabling, the Council of the Mangonui County do hereby make and ordain the following amendments to the Traffic By-laws for the Mangonui County, that is to say:—

  1. That all vehicles engaged in "heavy traffic," as defined by "The Public Works Act, 1905," shall have tires not less than 6 in. in width.

  2. (a.) That any damage done to any road, bridge, or culvert by a vehicle engaged in "heavy traffic" shall forthwith be repaired and made good by or at the expense of the owner of the vehicle, unless it can be proved to the satisfaction of the Council that such bridge or culvert was not in a fit or proper condition to carry the ordinary traffic thereon. (b.) That previous to the issue of any license to any vehicle engaged in "heavy traffic" the owner of such vehicle, and two sufficient sureties, shall give security either by way of bond to the Mangonui County Council or otherwise, as the Mangonui County Council shall think proper, conditioned for the payment from time to time of all such damage.

  3. These by-laws shall apply to the whole of the county except to the Wainui—Herekino Road, known as Gorge Road, in the Herekino Riding of the Mangonui County.

  4. Any person committing a breach of these by-laws shall be liable to a fine not exceeding £5.

  5. These by-laws shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1908.
