Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run will be offered for lease by public auction, at this office, for a term ending the 28th day of February, 1911, on Wednesday, the 13th day of May, 1908, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
Class I.

Description of Run.

This run is situated on the north side of the upper portion of the Hurunui River and Lake Sumner, about forty-five miles north-westward from Hawarden Railway-station, and comprises high rough country, the north-western boundary being the summit of the dividing range from Hurunui Pass to Hope Pass. The elevation ranges from about 3,500 ft. at the lowest portion of the open area to a maximum height of about 5,626 ft. above sea-level. The lower portions of the mountain-slopes are covered with bush and scrub; the upper portions are open, and carry native pasture. There are no improvements on this run.

Pastoral Runs in Southland Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral runs will be offered for lease by public auction, at this office, on Wednesday, the 13th day of May, 1908, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
Class I.

Run 533 is weighted with £60, valuation for improvements. Possession will be given on day of sale.

Description of Runs.

Run No. 415c: Situated in Takitimo District, about forty-five miles from Otatau Railway-station. Very high and broken country, poorly grassed with principally snow-tussock, but the steep faces are quite denuded of vegetation, and consist mostly of loose shingle. Country ranges from 4,000 ft. to 5,700 ft. above sea-level.

Run No. 531: Situated about fourteen miles by road from Mataura Township. About one-half covered with scrub, rest open; soil black loam; land broken and stony in parts. Height above sea-level, 600 ft. to 1,400 ft.

Run No. 533: Situated at Mason Bay, Stewart Island. Access from this bay and by water to head of Paterson Inlet at Freshwater River, thence through open country. Soil inferior, sand and sandy loam; well watered with fine small streams. Bush chiefly dense scrub, a large proportion being the best cattle-feed; principal vegetation on open land, red-tussock, and a little native grass.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Meadowbank Settlement practically adjoins the rising Town of Palmerston, through which the main southern line of railway passes, and has a frontage to the Palmerston-Dunback Branch Railway line. However, as all the sections are within easy reach of the main line, this branch line will not be greatly used.
