week, and 9.30 p.m. on Saturdays during the months of
October, November, December, January, February, March,
and April; and at 5.30 o'clock in the evening on four
working-days of the week, and at 9 o'clock on Saturdays
during the months of May, June, July, August, and September; excepting during the week preceding Christmas Eve,
when the hours of closing should be left to the option of the
tradespeople : And whereas by a like requisition, duly made
and certified as aforesaid, he has been requested to vary
the said notice by exempting tobacconists and hairdressers,
and fixing the hours for closing of same at 1 p.m. on Thursdays, at 10 p.m. on Saturdays, at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays,
and at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, excepting
for the period from the 20th December to 3rd January
(inclusive), when the hours of closing on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays shall be 8 p.m., instead of 6 p.m. as afore-
said:

Now, therefore, in compliance with the last-mentioned
requisition, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon
me by section 21 of "The Shops and Offices Act, 1904," and
section 5 of "The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act,
1905," I, James McGowan, acting for and on behalf of the
Minister of Labour, do hereby vary the said notice by
directing that on and after the 2nd day of March, 1908, all
tobacconists' and hairdressers' shops respectively (including
all shops carrying on both such businesses conjointly) in the
Borough of Stratford shall be closed in accordance with such
requisition.
