New County of Makara divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Makara County Act, 1907,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Makara, as constituted by the said Acts, into two ridings, to be called the Porirua Riding and the Makara Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.
And I do hereby declare that four members shall be elected for the said Porirua Riding, and two members for the said Makara Riding. And I do further declare that Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Makara shall take place, and that Wednesday, the twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, shall be the time, and the office of the Hutt County Council, Lambton Quay, Wellington, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.
SCHEDULE.
PORIRUA RIDING.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by Porirua Harbour, Section No. 98, Block VIII, Paikakariki Survey District; Sections Nos. 30, 31, 33, and 35, Block II, Belmont Survey District; and Sections Nos. 37, 39, and 352, Block III, Belmont Survey District: thence towards the south-east generally by Sections Nos. 349, 347, 346, 345, and 343, Block III aforesaid, Sections Nos. 340 and 339, Block II, Sections Nos. 331, 330, 329, 322, 321, 422, 423, 7, 5, 4, 6, 3, 39, 34, Block VIII, Belmont Survey District, and the Borough of Petone to Port Nicholson; thence by Port Nicholson, the Borough of Onslow, Johnsonville Town District, again by the Borough of Onslow, by the City of Wellington, and the Borough of Karori to Section No. 29, Block V, Port Nicholson Survey District; thence towards the west generally by Sections Nos. 29 and 30, Block V afore-
said, and Sections Nos. 51, 34, 36, 53, 87, 104, 79, 76, and 99, Block III, Port Nicholson Survey District, to the sea; and thence towards the north-west generally by the sea to Porirua Harbour, the place of commencement.
MAKARA RIDING.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the east generally by the Porirua Riding hereinbefore described, the Borough of Karori, and the City of Wellington; and towards the south, west, and north-west by the sea.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Wellington-Napier Railway to take further land at Masterton, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.
