BRITISH COLUMBIA.

DISCOVERY PASSAGE.-SEYMOUR NARROWS.-MAUD ISLAND.-
LIGHT ESTABLISHED.-The Canadian Government has given
notice that an unwatched intermittent red light, automatic-
ally eclipsed at short intervals, has been established on the
western side of Maud Island, southern entrance to Seymour
Narrows, Discovery Passage, British Columbia.

The light, which is visible 6 miles from all points of ap-
proach by water, is exhibited 25 ft. above high water from a
beacon consisting of a cylindrical steel tank standing on a
steel truss and surmounted by a pyramidal steel frame sup-
porting a lantern, the whole painted red.

Approx. position on H.O. Chart No. 2091 : Lat. 50° 07' 28"
N., long. 125° 20' 07" W.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.

D'ENTRECASTEAX ISLANDS.-ISLAND NORTH-EASTWARD.-
Captain W. C. Haynes, of the British steamer "Vermont,"
reports that on 9th June, 1907, in (approximately) lat. 9° 14'
S., long. 151° 55' E., he sighted a small uncharted island
about 1 mile in circumference, heavily wooded and having a
sandy beach.

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN.

PALAO OR PELEW ISLANDS.-KEIL ISLAND.--NON-EXISTENCE.
-Captain W. C. Haynes, of the British steamer "Ver-
mont," reports that on 15th June, 1907. at noon, he passed
within 1 or 2 miles of the charted position of Keil Island,
Palao or Pelew Islands, North Pacific Ocean, and saw no
sign of the island or of shoal water. The day was clear.

Approx. position: Lat. 7° 15' N., long. 134° 0' E.

AFRICA.

EAST COAST.-DELACOA BAY.-BUOYAGE.-The Portuguese
Government has given notice that a cylindrical buoy with
a square top-mark has been moored 2,460 yards S. 53° 10'
E. true (S.S.E. 3 e'ly mag.) from the lighthouse on Cock-
burn Shoal, Delagoa Bay, east coast of Africa, and that the
conical buoy at the entrance to the channel has been with-
drawn.

DISAPPEARANCE OF BELL ON BUOY AT ENTRANCE TO TAURANGA
HARBOUR.

NOTICE is hereby given that the bell which was recently
placed on the buoy at the entrance to Tauranga
Harbour (see Notice No. 48 of 1907) has disappeared.
Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Chart No. 2521, "New
Zealand Pilot," seventh edition, 1901, Chap. iv, page 135,
and "New Zealand Nautical Almanac," 1908, page 258.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon
me by section 2 of "The Towns Main Streets Act,
1902," I, Robert McNab, Minister of Lands, do hereby
authorise the laying-off of Dorset Avenue, Dartmoor
Avenue, Watson Street, Burns Street, Webster Street, and
Price Street, in the Township of Dartmoor Extension No. 1,
Taranaki Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft.
each, instead of 99 ft. as prescribed by section 17 of "The
Land Act, 1892."
