Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Ashburton, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 11th day of October, 1907, a proposal was submitted by the Ashburton Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Ashburton for raising a special loan of £20,000 for the purpose of constructing water-works for the supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 99; against, 280.
And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

MOA ROAD BOARD.
RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Lincoln, Richmond, York, Wortley, and Davis Roads Special-rating District taken on Saturday, the 12th October, 1907, upon the following proposals:—
(1.) To deviate and metal the Lincoln Road from the Borough of Inglewood eastwards; also to form and metal the Richmond, York, Wortley, and Davis Roads.
(2.) To borrow for such purposes the sum of £3,000, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, at 5 per centum per annum for twenty-six years.
(3.) To strike as security for such loan a special rate of 1½d. in the pound.
(4.) To constitute the Lincoln, Richmond, York, Wortley, and Davis Roads Special-rating District, to comprise the following lands, viz.: Sections, Subsections 2 and 4 (in two subdivisions) and 5 and 6 of 179, 242, 244, 247, 249, Block IV, Egmont Survey District; 231 (in two subdivisions), 234 (in two subdivisions), 235, 236, 237, part 232, part 238, 248, Block I, Huiroa Survey District; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 20, 214, 215, 216, 219, 220 (in two subdivisions), 221 (in two subdivisions), 224, 226, 228, 227, 229, 230, 233, Block XIII, Waitara Survey District; part 212 (in two subdivisions), part 213, 218, 223, 225, 205, Block XI, Paritutu Survey District.
(5.) All expenses in connection with raising this loan to be paid out of loan-money.
Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 36.
Total number of votes exercisable, 49.
Total number of valid votes recorded for proposal, 27.
Total number of valid votes recorded against proposal, 12.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 1st day of November, 1907:—

Timber other than white-pine from Bell’s Siding and Bartholomew Co.’s Siding to Mount Eden, Auckland, Onehunga Wharf, and intermediate stations will be charged 3s. per 100 sup. feet, and to Tirohia, Thames, and intermediate stations 2s. 6d. per 100 sup. feet.
Tawa timber from Bell’s Siding and Bartholomew Co.’s Siding to Te Aroha, Paeroa, Waihi, Thames, and intermediate stations will be charged at the rates for white-pine; minimum charge, 1s. 9d. per 100 sup. feet.

Forbidding the Issue of Money-orders and Forwarding of Postal Correspondence for S. Straus, Hamburg 36, Bartelsstrasse 100, Germany.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying on a lottery or a scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 9 of “The Post Office Act Amendment Act, 1906,” that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such address without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.
