Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in the Canterbury Land District.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule respectively.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Portion which it is intended to change. Intended Purpose.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing 2,560 acres, more or less, around and including the hot springs on the Hanmer Plain, near Jollie’s Pass, forming a parallelogram at the base of the hills bounding the plain on the north. Reserved for public purposes in Nelson Provincial Gazette No. 2, of the 11th February, 1860, page 6. All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing 3 roods 28 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 3745, and forming part of the Hanmer Plains Reserve, situated in Block II, Lyndon Survey District, bounded as follows: Commencing at the southern junction of Leamington Street and Scarborough Terrace, Town of Hanmer; thence towards the north-west by said Scarborough Terrace, a distance of 152 links; thence towards the north-east by a continuation easterly of the southern boundary of Block III of said Town of Hanmer, a distance of 300 links; thence towards the south-east by a line at right angles to the last-mentioned boundary, a distance of 250 links; thence towards the south-west by a line parallel to the north-east boundary, a distance of 455 links; thence again towards the north-west by a line parallel to the south-east boundary, a distance of 100 links; thence along the south boundary of said Leamington Street, a distance of 125 links, to the commencing-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 57252/2, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.

Notifying Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the sixth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.

Undulating land; inferior clay soil, on sandstone formation; covered with tea-tree and grass. Situated about one mile and a half from Avondale or New Lynn Railway-stations.

Waiotahi Parish.

Undulating land; 2 acres swamp, balance fern; soil of fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated half a mile from Kutarere Post-office and school, and about 10 chains off the main Opotiki–Whakatane Road.

Amending the Description of a Reserve in the Nelson Land District.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that where there has been any error of description made in any notification of any intended reserve, or where there appears a great discrepancy in the area of any intended reserve after the same shall have been surveyed, the Governor may cancel any notification that may have been made in respect of such reserve, and issue fresh notification in respect thereof, with amended particulars and description: And whereas an error was made in the description of an area of fourteen acres three roods of land described as Sections 92 and 93, Four-River Plain, Matakitaki, in the Nelson Land District, in the notice dated the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, and published in the Nelson Provincial Gazette No. 24, of the eleventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, reserving the land for purposes of public utility, and it is expedient to cancel the said notice in so far as it relates to the fourteen acres three roods aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby cancel the notice of the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, in so far as it relates to the said fourteen acres three roods, and do declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be set apart as reserves for the purposes of public utility, being the lands intended to be reserved by the said notice
