Authorising the Exchange of Reserves in Westland Land District for other Lands.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of August, 1907.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto were permanently reserved for educational endowment purposes: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the said lands for those described in the second column of the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the third section of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 889,” doth hereby declare that the said reserves described in the first column of the Schedule hereto may be exchanged for the lands described in the second column of the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Description of Reserves authorised to be exchanged. Description of Lands to be obtained in Exchange therefor.
All that area in the Westland Land District, being Reserve No. 120, Block I, Arawata Survey District, containing by admeasurement 500 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: Starting from the north-east corner of Native Reserve No. 752; bounded towards the north and north-west by Arawata Township, 4502·2 links; towards the north-west by a line bearing 255°, 2920·3 links, to the road reserve along Smoothwater Bay and Smoothwater River; towards the west by that reserve, 6500 links; towards the south-west by a line bearing 110°, 10288·7 links; towards the south-east by a line bearing 20°, 1977 links, to the road reserve along Jackson’s Bay; towards the north-east by that reserve to the south boundary of Native Reserve No. 732; towards the north and east by that reserve, 1500 and 800 links respectively, to the starting-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple. Reserved for educational endowment purposes in New Zealand Gazette No. 73, of date 23rd December, 1875, page 821. All that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement, exclusive of roads and gravel reserve, 700 acres, more or less, being Sections Nos. 2502 and 2503 of Block IX, Karangarua Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a road-line, 8869·8 links; towards the east by Section No. 2504, a road, and Section No. 2505, 8000·7 links; towards the south by Crown lands, 8872·9 links; and towards the west by Crown lands, 7997·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
All that area in the Westland Land District, being Reserve No. 121, containing by admeasurement 5,000 acres, more or less, situated in Haast Pass Survey District. Starting at a point on the road reserve along the Burke River distant from Trig. R1 170·8 links on a bearing of 240° 39′; and bounded thence towards the north-west by a line bearing 39° 29′ 38″, 36315 links, to the road reserve along the Haast River; thence towards the north, north-east, and south-east by said road reserve; and towards the south by the first-men- All that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2,700 acres, more or less, situated in Block V, Poerua Survey District. Starting at a point on the south boundary of Section No. 2259, Block I, Poerua Survey District, 5 chains from its south-west corner; and bounded thence towards the east by a due south line to and across Ferguson’s Creek; on the north by that creek, a distance of 40 chains or thereabouts; again towards the east by a due south line, 240 chains or thereabouts;

Reserved for educational endowment purposes in New Zealand Gazette No. 73, of date 23rd December, 1875, page 821. on the south by a due west line to the Poerua River; on the west by that river and the road reserve therealong to the south-west corner of Section No. 743; and on the north by that section, Section No. 2258, and Section No. 2259 to the starting-point: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged in red.
All that area in the Westland Land District, being Reserve No. 122, situate in Block XIII, Arnott Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1,000 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: Starting at the mouth of the Tauperikaka River; bounded to the north-west by the coastal road reserve to the road reserve along the Waita River; towards the west generally by that road reserve to a point about 24 chains above the junction of the Maori and Waita Rivers; thence towards the south-east by a line on a bearing of 37° 59′ to the Tauperikaka River; thence by that river and by the road reserve along the river to starting-point: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15F, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple. Reserved for educational endowment purposes in New Zealand Gazette No. 73, of date 23rd December, 1875, page 821. All that area in the Westland Land District, containing 2,300 acres, more or less, situated in Matakitaki Survey District. Starting at the south-west corner of Section No. 880 in Block IV of that district; and bounded towards the north by the south boundary of that section and its production to the Coppermine Creek; thence towards the east by that creek to the crossing of the Mahitahi-Haast Road; towards the south-east by a line parallel to the general direction of road, a distance of 220 chains or thereabouts; thence towards the south by a due west line, 125 chains; towards the north-west by a line parallel to the general direction of aforesaid road to the prolongation of the south boundary of Section No. 2528; towards the north by the prolongation and boundary just mentioned and a road abutment; and towards the west by a road-line to the starting-point: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
All that area in the Westland Land District, containing 1,000 acres, more or less, situated in Block IV, Wataroa Survey District. Starting at a point 25 chains distant from the north-west corner of Ferry Reserve No. 228 and in prolongation of the north-west boundary thereof, and bounded towards the south-east by the said boundary and prolongation; towards the north-east by the Poerua River, a distance of 210 chains or thereabouts; towards the north-west by a line parallel to the south-east boundary, a distance of 45 chains or thereabouts; and thence towards the south-west by a straight line to the starting-point: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55973/15G, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged in red.
