by said railway reserve to starting-point: including the road reserve traversing the above-described area, but exclusive of all present and prospective mining rights.

Also all that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 860 acres, or thereabouts, being Reserve No. 1056, situated in Blocks VIII, XI, and XII, Mahinapua Survey District, and bounded as follows: Starting at the south-west corner of Section No. 1980; by the south-west boundary of that section, 2610 links; thence by the south-east boundary of the same section, 658 links; thence by Sawmill-area No. 1425, 5500 links; thence by a straight line to the north-west corner of the Mahinapua Township Reserve; thence by a line being the north-east boundary-line of the Township Reserve to the Hokitika-Ross Road, and by that road to the south-east corner of Roberts’s Sawmill-area No. 1772; thence generally on the south-west and south-east by that area and Sawmill-area No. 1771, a distance of 15101·7 links, to the H.P. road-line, and by that road-line to the road reserve along Mahinapua Lake; thence by the said reserve along the east side of the lake and of Mahinapua Creek to the starting-point: but exclusive of the road lying to the north-east of Section No. 1334, connecting the Hokitika-Ross Road with the road reserve round the lake, and of Sections Nos. 1334 and 1336, and of Gravel Reserves Nos. 318 and 319.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 57058, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seven.

Resuming Land held under Lease for the Purpose of a Public Recreation-ground.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor in Council may, by Proclamation, resume possession of any land leased under Part V of the said Act which in his opinion is required for any public purpose:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of land which is held under small-grazing-run lease from His Majesty the King under Part V of the said Act, dated the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a public purpose—that is to say, for the purpose of a public recreation-ground:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume possession of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto for the public purpose hereinbefore mentioned, the same being part of the land held under small-grazing-run lease as aforesaid; and do also hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the twenty-second day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

WHEREAS by the seventy-third section of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things, enacted that before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.
