Education Board of the District of Southland.—Election of Members.
IN accordance with section 26 of “The Education Act, 1904,” notice is hereby given that the following gentlemen have been duly nominated for election to the ordinary vacancies in the Southland Board of Education in respect of the East, Central, and West Wards respectively, caused by their retirement from office on the 6th day of August next.

As no other nominations have been received for the said vacancies, I hereby declare the said Thomas MacGibbon, Joseph Crosby Smith, and John Charles Thomson to be duly elected to fill the said vacancies.

“The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its Amendments.
In the matter of a requisition as to taking compulsorily certain lands situated near Makotuku, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, known generally as Te Ohu Estate; and in the matter of a claim for compensation by Jane Holder Matthews for compulsory taking of lands situated near Makotuku, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, known generally as Te Ohu Estate.
WHEREAS a notice was given upon the 5th day of October, 1906, on behalf of His Majesty, that it was intended to take compulsorily, under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its amendments, the land the acreage, description, and classification of which, as also the names and addresses of the owners of such land, are specified in the Schedule hereto: And whereas certain claims have been made under the said Act for the compulsory taking of the said land: And whereas no separate order under section 22 of the said Act has been made fixing the compensation to be paid in respect of the compulsory taking of the said land: And whereas the Minister of Lands has decided to discontinue the proceedings for the compulsory taking: Now, therefore, it is hereby declared that the requisition has been revoked, and the proceedings for the compulsory taking of the said lands are hereby discontinued.
SCHEDULE.
TE OHU ESTATE.
Acreage and Description.—All that parcel of land, containing 4,650 acres, or thereabouts, inclusive of roads, being part of the Te Ohu or Manawatu No. 3A Block, situated in Blocks II, V, VI, and X of the Norsewood Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point where the right bank of the Mangatewainui River crosses the west side of the main road from Dannevirke to Napier, and bounded towards the south-east generally by that road;
towards the south-west generally by the road forming the north-east boundary of Lot B on a plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, at Napier, under No. 1254; by the Matamau Stream; by Sections 45 and 46, Block X, Norsewood Survey District; by Section 1, Block V, Norsewood Survey District; by the Mangatewaiiti Stream: towards the north-west by that portion of Te Ohu or Manawatu No. 3A Block which is situated west of Section 34, Block V, Norsewood Survey District; again towards the south-west by the continuation of the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 34 to the point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block II, Norsewood Survey District; towards the north-west by other portion of Te Ohu; towards the north and north-east generally by Sections 3 and 2, Block II, Norsewood Survey District; and by the Mangatewainui River to the commencing-point: excepting always the Allotments Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13, shown on a plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, at Napier, under No. 1210, and excepting also the portions of roads forming the immediate frontages of the said allotments, which said excepted allotments and roads are not included in the above-described area.
The registered owner is Mrs. Jane Holder Matthews, executrix of James Matthews, deceased, and the property is subject to certain rights of way created by or arising out of the deposit of Plans 1210 and 1254.
The registered owners of any lesser estate or interest are as set out hereunder:—

The Bank of Australasia, holders of Mortgage 12573 (Land Transfer).
George Albert Gammon and William Alfred Gammon, holders of Sublease No. 2217, expires 2nd March, 1909.
