a resolution was passed that, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal
Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1901,” and amendments thereto respectively, the New
Brighton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That,
for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a
loan of £8,000, authorised to be raised by the New Brighton
Borough Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1901,” for the carrying-out of the following
undertakings in the said borough — providing fire-brigade
plant and buildings, and wells and tanks, constructing kerb-
ing and channelling, grading, forming, and metalling roads
and footpaths, improving esplanade, planting marram-grass,
protecting river-banks north and south of Tramway Bridge,
tarring footpaths, for supervision and contingencies—the
said New Brighton Borough Council hereby makes and levies
a special rate of 11d. in the pound upon the rateable valua-
tion of all rateable property of the Borough of New Brighton,
comprising all that area in the Canterbury Land District,
situated in the Christchurch and Sumner Survey Districts,
bounded towards the north by the road forming the northern
boundaries of Rural Section No. 6856, and its continuation
through Reserve 1579 to and along the northern boundary of
Rural Sections Nos. 33181, 32876, and 17573, and its pro-
duction to low-water mark of the sea; thence towards the
north-east and south-west by low-water mark of the sea
and low-water mark of the estuary of the Heathcote and
Avon Rivers to a point in line with the north-western
boundary-line of Section No. 11213, Christchurch Survey
District; thence by the left bank of the Avon River to the
bridge on the road to New Brighton, near the westernmost
corner of Reserve No. 3061; thence by the road to New
Brighton to its junction with the North Avon Road to
the Racecourse Road; and thence towards the west by
the said Racecourse Road, passing Sections Nos. 4665,
6385, 7196, and 6856, to the road forming the northern
boundary of the last-mentioned section aforesaid, including
that portion of Section No. 460 to the eastward of the
present channel of the Avon River: and that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day
of May and the 1st day of November in each and every
year during the currency of loan, being a period of twenty
years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The above resolution was confirmed at an ordinary meet-
ing of the Council held on the 15th day of July, 1907.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Bur-
gesses of the Borough of New Brighton was hereto affixed
to the above-written special order of the Council, and by and

Gladstone.

Borough Council, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

GLADSTONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by
“The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Gladstone Borough Council
hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of provid-
ing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,000, au-
thorised to be raised by the said Council, under the provi-
sions of the said Acts, for the purpose of asphalting footpaths
and road formation, the said Borough Council of Gladstone
hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound
upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the
Borough of Gladstone contained within the boundaries de-
fined in special order of this Council gazetted the 4th day of
February, 1904; and that such special rate shall be an an-
nually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and
be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st
day of August in each and every year during the currency
of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan
is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was passed
at a special meeting of the Gladstone Borough Council held
on the 20th day of June, 1907, and confirmed at a subse-
quent meeting of the said Council on the 18th day of July,
1907.

Stratford.

County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Strat-
ford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for
the purpose of providing the interest and sinking fund to
secure the repayment of a loan or loans to be raised under
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and
its amendments, for providing the funds for the reconstruc-
tion of bridges on roads in the East Riding of the County
of Stratford under the jurisdiction of the Stratford County
Council, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special
rate of ¼d. in the pound (to be called a bridge rate) upon the
capital value of all rateable property comprised within the
East Riding of the County of Stratford; and that such
special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
currency of such loan or loans, and be payable yearly on the
1st day of February in each and every year during the
currency of such loan or loans, or until such loan or loans
are fully paid off.
The resolution instituting the above special order was
passed at a special meeting of the Stratford County Council
held on the 19th day of June, 1907, and confirmed at a meet-
ing of the Council held on the 17th day of July, 1907.

Thames.

Borough Council, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF THAMES.
Special Order making Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and
the amendments thereof, the Thames Borough Council
hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of pro-
viding the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,500,
authorised to be raised by the Thames Borough Council,
under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1901,” and “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,”
for the purpose of establishing a public abattoir, the said
Thames Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special
rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation (on
the basis of the annual rent value) of all rateable property
within the Borough of Thames; and that such special rate
shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of
such loan, and be payable annually on the 1st day of July in
each and every year during the currency of such loan, being
a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully
paid off.
Passed at a special meeting of the said Council held on
the 29th day of May, 1907, and confirmed at a special meet-
ing held on the 27th day of June, 1907.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Bur-
gesses of the Borough of Thames was affixed hereto in the
