of a roller around which the endless belt passes, substantially as set forth. (4.) For the purpose indicated, means for rotating a shaft through a half-circle, comprising a stepped cone, a sleeve integral with the cone, a ratchet wheel integral with the sleeve, a disc fixed to the shaft, spring-operated pawls pivoted to the disc, a ring slidable around the disc, pins on the disc contacting with the pawls, and means for rotating the ring to release the pawls, substantially as set forth. (5.) In mechanism described in claim 4, the employment of a lug fixed to the ring, a rod connecting the lug to the upper roller of a flax-stripper, a spring-operated rod connected to the other side of the lug for effecting the return movement of the ring, substantially as set forth.
