Rural Land in Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-third day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seven; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Altitude, from 400 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Level to broken country, covered with fern and tea-tree scrub; soil of a light nature, on sandstone formation; well watered by small swamps; general quality of section is fair. Situated seven miles from Kawa Railway-station and five miles from Otorohanga by good road.

Notifying Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seven, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.

Situated about one mile from Te Wharau Post-office on south-west side of the Gladstone–East Coast Road. Access is from Carterton, via Gladstone, about thirty-one miles distant by coach-road, the greater portion of which is metalled.
Section comprises hilly land in grass, with fern and secondary growth in places, and soil of a clayey nature, on sandstone formation.
MAKURI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated at Mangatiti, near the junction of Taraora and Mangatiti Roads, access being by unformed road from Makuri, about ten miles distant. Felled and grassed; soil of good quality, on papa formation.
APITI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated opposite the Makoura Village, in the Salisbury Block, at the junction of the Makoura and Makiekie Roads. Access is from Apiti Township, which is about nine miles distant by good metalled road. Level land, in English grass; good soil, on papa formation.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1903,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act, or in any Crown grant or other instrument of title, the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Board, remove any restriction on the alienation of land owned by Maoris: Provided that the decision of the Governor on any recommendation of the Board shall be given within six months from the date of the receipt of such recommendation:
And whereas the Aotea District Maori Land Board, by a recommendation made and passed by the said Board on the sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and received on the eighth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, recommended the Governor to remove and revoke the restrictions against alienation contained in the instrument of title of the block of land particularised and set out in the Schedule hereto, so far as to permit the same to be mortgaged:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon and vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities me thereunto enabling, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Aotea District Maori Land Board aforesaid, do hereby remove and revoke the restrictions now existing against the alienation of the said land, so far as to permit the same to be mortgaged to the Government Advances to Settlers Department.
