APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Lawrence.

Pursuant to “The Mining Act, 1905,” the undersigned, William Forrest Smyth, of Lawrence, mine-owner, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Date and number of miner’s right: 20th July, 1906; No. 58789.

Address for service: The office of Alfred Crooke, Solicitor, Ross Place, Lawrence.

Dated at Lawrence, this 18th day of January, 1907.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Starting at a point in Bowler’s Creek, about half a mile above the Bush Reserve, being Section 6, Block VIII, Beaumont District, opposite a point known as the Yellow Cutting, passing through Sections 2 and 5, Block VIII, Beaumont District, and 74a, Block III, Tuapeka West District, and freehold Sections 37, 36, and 35, Block III, Tuapeka West District, belonging to Samuel Henry, and terminating at a point about 100 yards above the mill dam in Block III, Tuapeka West, together with a strip of land, 20 ft. wide, along the entire length of the course of the race, measured 10 ft. on each side of the race. Marked with pegs and cairns marked W.

Length and intended course of race: Nine miles; southerly.

Points of intake: One at head.

Estimated time and cost of construction: 18 months; £1,500.

Mean depth and breadth: Depth, 1 ft. 6 in; breadth, 3 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Nine.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
