Rural Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District open for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Comprises undulating and broken country, with high cliffs on south-east portion; originally bush, now cleared and grassed. Soil is of good quality, on limestone formation; fairly well watered by a small stream. Situated close to the Manawatu River, five miles south-east of Woodville Township and Railway-station by good metalled road for four miles, and one mile formed but not yet metalled. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, comprise 80 chains of fencing, value £40.

Originally bush country which has been felled and grassed, with the exception of a few acres in gullies near western corner; north-eastern portion level, balance undulating and a little broken. Soil is a shingly loam, on clay formation; watered by Mangatewainui Stream. Elevation ranges from about 900 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Situated about two miles and three-quarters from Norsewood Village by good metalled dray-road, known as Ngamoko Road, and six miles and three-quarters from Ormondville Township and Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, comprise 72 chains of fencing, value £36.

Originally bush country which has been felled and grassed; front portion of section is level, the back undulating and slightly broken. Soil is a shingly loam, on clay formation; watered by small streams. Elevation ranges from about 900 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Situated about two miles and a half from Norsewood Village by good metalled dray-road, known as Ngamoko Road, and six miles and a quarter from Ormondville Township and Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, comprise 48 chains fencing, £24; and house, two rooms (each about 10 ft. x 8 ft.), and shed, £25: total, £49.

Bush country through which a timber-mill has worked, leaving only a few rimu, miro, &c., and scrub; comprises about 20 acres flat land, remainder undulating and broken. Soil is a shingly loam, on clay formation, and has rough grass through it; watered by Mangatewainui Stream. Elevation ranges from about 800 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Situated about three miles and three-quarters from Norsewood Village by good metalled dray-road, known as “Gundry’s Road,” and seven miles and three-quarters from Ormondville Township and Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, comprise 38 chains of fencing, value £22 15s.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

JAMES CHRISTIE

to be a Trustee, in the place of John James McAuley, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Portobello Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

JOHN GREEN KAY,
WILLIAM NATHANIEL RUSHBOOK, and
ARCHIBALD WILSON

to be Trustees, in the place of George Johnson, removed from the district, and William Francis Hammond and Alexander Wilson, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Takapuna Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seven.
