entitled to vote at the election of insurance companies’
representatives on the Fire Boards, and no insurance com-
pany whose name does not appear on the said roll shall be
qualified to vote at any election.

  1. In the case of fire districts outside the four Cities
    of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin the
    election of members shall take place in the one of the above-
    mentioned cities in which the office of the Fire Under-
    writers’ Association having jurisdiction over such fire
    district is located.

  2. For the elections to be held in the year 1907 each
    company carrying on business in any fire district shall be
    entitled to one vote for each member to be elected to the
    Board of that district, but thereafter each person voting on
    behalf of any company at any election of any Fire Board
    shall be entitled to vote in accordance with the following
    scale:—

If the company on behalf of which he is voting has in
accordance with the next following clause returned
for the year previous to the election a premium
revenue of less than £3,000, one vote for each member
to be elected.

If £3,000 but less than £6,000, two votes for each
member to be elected.

If £6,000 but less than £9,000, three votes for each
member to be elected.

If £9,000 and upwards, four votes for each member to
be elected.

  1. After the year 1907 every company shall, before the
    30th day of April in each year, furnish to the Secretary of
    the Council of Fire Underwriters’ Associations of New
    Zealand a statement of the amount of its gross revenue, less
    reinsurances, in each fire district, as per section 13 of the
    Act. Such information shall be deemed strictly confidential
    by him, and shall be destroyed after he has notified the
    various Returning Officers of the several fire districts of the
    number of votes each company is entitled to. The Return-
    ing Officers shall issue at each election voting-papers accord-
    ingly to the persons so entitled to vote on behalf of the
    companies:

Provided that if a company decide not to send in such
return, or neglect to do so, such company shall nevertheless
be entitled to one vote for each person to be elected for any
fire district in which the company is carrying on business.

  1. The same person may be elected as a member of two
    or more different Fire Boards.

  2. These rules may be altered from time to time, but
    only at a meeting of duly authorised representatives of the
    insurance companies, called together by the Minister as and
    when he shall think fit. At such a meeting each such re-
    presentative shall have one vote in respect of each company
    represented by him. Any amendments of these rules shall
    be subject to the approval of the Governor in manner pro-
    vided by section 4 of the Act.

rules made thereunder, it is hereby notified than an
election by the insurance companies carrying on business
in New Zealand of three members of

The City of Auckland Fire Board,
The City of Wellington Fire Board,
The City of Christchurch Fire Board,
The City of Dunedin Fire Board,
The Hawera Fire Board,
The Oamaru Fire Board,
The Palmerston North Fire Board, and
The Feilding Fire Board

will be held on Monday, the 20th day of May, 1907, in the
manner prescribed by the said Act and rules made there-
under.

HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.

DAY’S BAY—LOWRY BAY ROAD.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Hutt
County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the
purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of
£1,500, authorised to be raised by the Hutt County Council,
under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of widening
and construction of that portion of the Day’s Bay—Lowry Bay
Road situate in the County of Hutt between the southern
boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt and the northern
boundary of the Borough of Eastbourne, the said Hutt
County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
¾d. in the pound upon the capital rateable value of all
rateable property of the No. 6 Special-rating District, com-
prising Sections 33, 34, 32, 30, 29, 27, 25, 23, 21, 20, 22, 24,
26, 28, and 31, Block 16, Belmont Survey District; and that
such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during
the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first
day of June in each and every year during the currency of
such loan, and being a period of twenty-six years, or until
the loan is fully paid off.

The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of
the Hutt County Council duly convened for and held at
the offices of the Council at 2 o’clock p.m. on Friday, the
22nd March, 1907, and was confirmed as a special order at
a meeting of the said Council duly convened for and held at
the offices of the Council at 2 o’clock p.m. on Friday, the
19th April, 1907; and the common seal of the Chairman,
Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Hutt was
hereto affixed, this 19th day of April, 1907, in the presence
of—

behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Maori
Hill Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges
on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Maori Hill
Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the
formation and improvement of the District Road, the said
Maori Hill Borough Council hereby makes and levies a
special rate of 1¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value
of all rateable property of the Special Loan District, com-
prising part of Section 8, Block II, Upper Kaikorai District;
Allotments 41 to 47 (inclusive) and 86 to 89 (inclusive),
Balmacewen Estate; part of Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4,
Block II, Upper Kaikorai District; Allotments 18 to 24
(inclusive), Township of Cannington; Sections 4, 5, 6, and
7, Block VIII, Upper Kaikorai District; and part of Block
XI, Dunedin and East Taieri District, which lands are
shown by a green colour, and which road is shown by a
red colour, on a plan described as “Plan of Special Loan
District, Borough of Maori Hill,” prepared by Nathaniel
Paterson, licensed surveyor, Dunedin; and that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of
May and the 1st day of November in each and every year
