Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Borough of Eketahuna, as constituted by “The Eketahuna Borough Act, 1906,” shall be an undivided borough, and that the number of Councillors to be elected for the said borough shall be six, exclusive of the Mayor.

And I do further proclaim and declare that James Prenderville, of Eketahuna, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough, and also the Town Clerk, and the person to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the said first election.

And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall be held on Thursday, the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seven; and that the first meeting of the Council of the said borough shall be held on Tuesday, the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seven, at eight o’clock in the afternoon, at the Exchange Buildings, at Eketahuna.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seven.

Vesting Petone Beach in Petone Borough Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section seven of “The Petone and Hutt Corporations Empowering Act, 1905,” and in exercise of the powers thereby conferred upon me, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do by this Proclamation hereby vest in the Petone Borough Council (which in the said Act is defined to mean the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Petone) the whole of the therein-mentioned beach as a reserve for the purposes and subject to the reservation therein mentioned, to wit, for the purposes of a public promenade and recreation area, subject to the right of access over the same being reserved (and the same is hereby reserved accordingly) to the Wellington Harbour Board in connection with harbour-works or for harbour purposes.

Native Land in Rotoiti Survey District taken for Electric-lighting Purposes.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of March, 1907.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for electric-lighting purposes:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:

And whereas a map of the said land has been prepared in duplicate, as required by the eighty-ninth section of “The Public Works Act, 1905”:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, is hereby taken for electric-lighting purposes as aforesaid; and the said land shall vest in His Majesty the King as from the twenty-first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

Vesting Control and Management of Part of Taihape-Mataroa Road in the Taihape Borough Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of March, 1907.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. HALL-JONES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of Taihape-Mataroa Road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be under the control and management of the Borough of Taihape.

SCHEDULE.

TAIHAPE-MATAROA ROAD.

ALL that portion of the road in the Wellington Land District, known as the Taihape-Mataroa Road, commencing at the north-western corner of Section 74, Block XIV, Ohinewairua Survey District, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction, fronting Sections 74 and 75, Block XIV aforesaid; thence along frontages of Sections 28, 29, 30, 31, and 35, Block XIV aforesaid; thence along frontage of Section 5, Block XI, frontages of Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, Block XII, and frontages of Sections II and I, Block I, Taihape Township; and terminating at the south-eastern corner of Section 1, Block I, Taihape Township; being a distance of 1 mile 10 chains or thereabouts: as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 840(2), deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, thereon coloured pink, and lettered M.N.
