BOROUGH OF BIRKENHEAD.

SPECIAL ORDER MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the following
special order, making a special rate to meet the
interest and other charges on a loan of £3,500, was duly
passed at a special meeting of the Council on the 6th
December, 1906, and confirmed on the 3rd January, 1907,
viz:—
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it
in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the
Birkenhead Borough hereby resolves as follows: That, for the
purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a
loan of £3,500, authorised to be raised by the Borough of
Birkenhead, under the above-named Act, for the purpose of
providing for the necessary cuttings, fillings, general construc-
tion, kerbing, channelling, acquiring land, compensation (if
any), and incidental works rendered necessary in the carrying-
out of the scheme for providing a suitable grade from the
proposed wharf along the main road to a point at the upper
side of Bath Road, according to the plans and specifications
prepared by the Engineer, H. Monro Wilson, now lying at
the office of the Town Clerk, the Birkenhead Borough
Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4d. in the
pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the
Borough of Birkenhead, comprising Blocks 1, 2, 3, 57 to 67,
Sections 1, 2, 5, 7 to 13, of Block 121, 128 to 164, and
227 to 230, all inclusive, of Blocks VII, XI, and XII,
Waitemata Survey District; and that such special rate shall
be an annual-recurring rate during the continuance of such
loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of July
and the 1st day of January in each and every year during the
currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or
until the loan is fully paid off. The interest to be paid on
the loan herein referred to is to be at the rate of 4 per cent.
per annum.

NOTICE.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

THE Partnership between the undersigned, as Barristers
and Solicitors, under the style of “Fitzherbert and
Marshall,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from
this date. All debts owing by the late firm will be paid and
all moneys payable to the said firm will be received by
Mr. Gifford Marshall, whose receipt will be a sufficient
discharge.

In the matter of “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act,
1900”; and in the matter of the delegation by the Mayor,
Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Palmerston
North to the Manawatu Meat and Cold-storage Company
(Limited) of the powers to establish an abattoir for the
Borough of Palmerston North; and in the matter of
the establishment of the said abattoir by the Manawatu
Meat and Cold-storage Company (Limited).

THE said Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses, and the
Manawatu Meat and Cold-storage Company (Limited),
hereby notify that the fees payable in respect of the
slaughter of animals in the abattoir shall be as follows:—

s. d.
For every head of large cattle .. .. 5 9
For every sheep or lamb .. .. 0 8
For every calf .. .. 3 0
For every pig, 100 lb. live weight or under .. 1 6
For every pig, 100 lb. live weight or over .. 2 0

The company, in addition to the fees hereinbefore speci-
fied, shall be entitled to retain all offal taken from all
animals slaughtered in the abattoir, except the following,
which each butcher shall be entitled to take away, but for
the purposes of his retail trade only, namely: Tongues,
tails, hearts, kidneys, livers, tripes, heads, skirts, and feet
of all the animals slaughtered. And further notify that the
fees payable in respect of the cold-storage of meat in the
said abattoir shall be as follows:—

Large cattle (per quarter) .. 3d. for first day.
" .. 2d. for second day.
" .. 1d. for third or any further
day.
Sheep and lambs .. .. 1d. for first day.
" .. .. ½d. for second day.
" .. .. ¼d. for any further day.
Pigs .. .. .. 1½d. per day throughout.
Calves .. .. .. 3d. for first day.
" .. .. .. 2d. for second day.
" .. .. .. 1d. for further day.

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership which
has for some time past been carried on by ARTHUR
FREDERICK COOK and JOHN PADDY, under the style of “A. F.
Cook and Co.,” at Hastings, in the business of Blacksmiths
and Agricultural Engineers, was this day dissolved by
mutual consent.
