Land temporarily reserved in the Canterbury Land District.


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Canterbury Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the land so intended to be temporarily reserved.


SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 87 acres 1 rood 28 perches, more or less (formerly part of State Forest Reserve No. 3315), situated in Block VIII, Hutt Survey District. Bounded towards the south-east generally by Rural Section No. 16809, a road-line, Rural Section No. 2871, and a line in continuation of the latter boundary, a distance of 5263 links; towards the west by a line bearing 348° 53', distant 859·6 links, to a road-line running up a spur; thence generally towards the north-west by the said road to its junction with the road continued along the north-eastern side of the said Rural Section No. 16809; and towards the north-east by the latter road, a distance of 2865·1 links, to the north-eastern corner of the said Rural Section No. 16809: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 55554, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and bordered red thereon. For a public recreation-ground.

For a site for a public library.

Bounded towards the north by a public road, 1568·4 links; towards the south-east by the Rangitoto-Tuhua Block, Native land, 1319·5 links; and towards the south-west by Section No. 10, Block XVI, Aria Survey District, 1020·9 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 56112A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For the preservation of scenery.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 101 acres, more or less, being Section No. 27, Block XV, Aria Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 21, Block XV, Aria Survey District, 1747·3 links; towards the south-east by Section No. 13 of the said Block XV, 2044·7 links; and towards the south-east, south, west, and north-west generally by a road reserve (100 links wide) along the left bank of the Waikaka Stream: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 56112B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For the preservation of scenery.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 639 acres, more or less, being Section No. 21, Block XV, Aria Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by the left bank of the Mangapapa Stream; towards the east by Section No. 22, Block XV, Aria Survey District, 5967·6 links; towards the south generally by Sections Nos. 24, 13, and 27 of the said Block XV, 14619 links; and towards the west generally by a road reserve (100 links wide) along the left bank of the Waikaka Stream: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 56112C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For an endowment for primary education.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,040 acres, more or less, being Section No. 4, Block XI, Aria Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north generally by the Mangakahikatea Road, 14982·1 links; towards the east by Sections Nos. 5 and 6, Block XI, Aria Survey District, 11583 links; towards the south generally by the right bank of the Mangapapa Stream; and towards the west generally by a road reserve (100 links wide) along left bank of the Waikaka Stream: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 56112D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For the growth and preservation of timber.
