Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of two parcels of land, containing 1 rood 32 perches and 2 roods 26 perches respectively, more or less, being Allotments Nos. 9 and 33, in the Village of Weymouth, in the Provincial District of Auckland, bounded on the north by a street, 300 links; on the east by a street, 150 links; on the south by Allotment No. 10, 300 links; and on the west by Allotment No. 12, 150 links. Allotment No. 33 is bounded on the north by a street, 297 links; on the east by a street, 225 links; on the south by Allotment No. 34, 297 links; and on the west by Allotment No. 32, 225 links. The registered owner of this land is Thomas Houghton, described as of Auckland, settler, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS in the District Land Registry at New Plymouth, Charles Brown, of Wellington, New Zealand, hotelkeeper, appears by virtue of a certificate of title, Vol. 2, folio 106, as registered owner of an estate in fee-simple as tenant in common with William Rowe, of Normanby, nurseryman, of the following lands, all situated in the Township of Normanby, in the Patea District and Provincial District of Taranaki, viz.:

  1. Allotments 68 and 79, Block 4, containing 2 roods, and fronting Hobson and Bowen Streets:
  2. Allotment 95, Block 5, containing 1 rood, and fronting Ferguson Street:
  3. Allotments 100, 102, and 111, Block 6, containing 3 roods, and fronting Ferguson Street and Ngarongo Road:
  4. Allotments 265, 266, and 268, Block 21, containing 3 roods, and fronting Hunter and Wynyard Streets:

which said lands are in the occupation of the said William Rowe: And whereas the said Charles Brown has not been heard of or from for over twenty years, and inquiries made have not enabled him to be traced, and the Public Trustee has not been able to ascertain who the owner or owners of the above-described moiety in the said lands, or any of them, is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners of the said undivided moiety in right of the said Charles Brown, within six months of the day of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice, or some part or parts thereof, as the case may be, and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will execute the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Examination for Dredgemasters’ Certificates.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 27th September, 1907.

AN examination of candidates for certificates as dredgemasters, under “The Mining Act, 1905,” will be held on Tuesday, the 28th January, 1908, at Greymouth and Dunedin. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary, Board of Examiners under the Mining Act, Wellington,” and must be received on or before the 3rd January, 1908. Forms of application may be obtained from Inspectors of Mines, Westport and Dunedin.

[NOTE.—No candidate will be permitted to present himself for examination unless he holds an authority from the Secretary stating that his certificates of service have been accepted by the Board.]


Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery Superintendents’ Certificates.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 27th September, 1907.

WRITTEN and oral examinations of candidates for certificates as First- and Second-class Mine-managers and Battery Superintendents under “The Mining Act, 1905,” and First- and Second-class Mine-managers under “The Coal-mines Act, 1905,” will be held on Tuesday, the 21st January, 1908, and following days, at the Thames, Waihi, Reefton, and Dunedin. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary, Board of Examiners under the Mining Act [or Coal-mines Act], Wellington,” and must be received on or before the 21st December, 1907. Forms of application may be obtained at any School of Mines, and from Inspectors of Mines.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Lands in Westland Land District surrendered.

Department of Lands, Wellington, 17th December, 1907.

NOTICE is hereby given that, surrenders of the leases of the undermentioned lands having been accepted by resolution of the Westland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
