WOODVILLE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £3,500.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments thereto.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 9th day of December, 1907, a proposal was submitted by the Woodville Borough Council to the ratepayers of that portion of the borough bounded on the north by Soury Road, on the east by Pinfold Road on the eastern boundary of Rural Section 71, on the south by the Mangaatua Stream, and on the west by the eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 8, 120, 123, for raising a loan of £3,500 for two successive years’ expenditure on the construction of an additional reservoir and extending the water-supply mains within the said area; and that the number of valid votes polled for the proposal was 107; against the proposal, 22; informal, 1.

There being a majority of votes for the proposal, I declare the same to be carried.

Notice regarding Provision for Superannuation of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company’s Employees.

IN accordance with section 41 of “The Public Service Superannuation Act, 1907,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, hereby declare that the provisions of “The Government Railways Superannuation Fund Act, 1902,” shall extend and apply to persons permanently employed by the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company, as from 1st January, 1908.

Forbidding the Issue of Money-orders and the Transmission of Postal Correspondence for George Marshall, London.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered, under section 9 of “The Post Office Act Amendment Act, 1906,” that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such address without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Waitoa Survey District for the Purposes of a Drain.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a drain in Block I, Waitoa Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Te Aroha, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the undermentioned authorities have by special order declared the plants enumerated opposite each to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under the jurisdiction of each respectively:—
