EXTRACT FROM THE JOURNALS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, MONDAY, THE 18TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1907.

No. 16 of 1907.

Resolved, “That this Council approves of the lands proposed to be reserved as endowments for educational purposes, as specified in paper No. 236 of 1907, being permanently set aside as endowments for educational purposes.”

On the motion of the Hon. Mr. T. Kelly.

The Old Government Buildings (depicted) were completed in 1876 and initially housed the entire Wellington-based civil service as well as the entire New Zealand Cabinet. The Executive Council met there until 1948.
