SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 31B, Block X, Merrivale Settlement, Waiau Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section No. 31, in the said settlement, 125 links; towards the north-east by said Section No. 31, 400 links; towards the south-east by a public road, 125 links; and towards the south-west by Section No. 31A, in the said settlement, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 57092/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For a site for an athenæum and mechanics’ institute.

Opening Settlement Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and their amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-second day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

General Description.
Pourerere Settlement is situated from sixteen to twenty miles from Waipawa by the main road from Waipawa to Blackhead. It consists of flat and undulating mixed agricultural and pastoral land, in English and native grasses, practically all ploughable, the altitude varying from 480 ft. to 760 ft. above sea-level. The soil is good, and overlies a formation of clay and papa. Each section is watered by several streams. Section 1, Block II, contains a small patch of light bush, and fencing valued at £60; Section 1, Block VI, contains a dam, and fencing valued at £65; Section 2, Block VI, contains a small dam, about 9 acres of shallow drainable swamp, and fencing valued at £26 10s.; Section 3, Block VI, contains about 9 acres of shallow drainable swamp, a few patches of manuka scrub, and fencing valued at £81 5s.; Section 4, Block VI, contains patches of manuka scrub, and fencing valued at £33 15s.; Section 1, Block X, contains patches of manuka scrub, and fencing valued at £75. All the fencing is included in the value of the sections.
Omakare–Long Range Road, which runs along the eastern side of the settlement, is now being formed.

Trustee for the Grahamtown Public Cemetery appointed.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint CHARLES HILL to be a Trustee, in the place of Alexander Randall Carrington, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Grahamtown Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint JOHN EDWARD DOLMAN to be a Trustee, in the place of Alexander Robb, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Patutahi Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

Arrangements for First Election, &c., Mackenzie Town District, County of Cheviot.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint WILFRED MAXWELL COTTERILL, the Clerk of the Cheviot County Council, to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of the Commissioners of the Town District of Mackenzie, County of Cheviot, as constituted under “The Town Districts Act, 1881”; also to appoint Tuesday, the 7th day of January, 1908, to be the time, and the office of the Cheviot County Council, Seddon Street, Mackenzie Township, to be the place, at which such first election shall be held; and also to appoint Wednesday, the 15th day of January, 1908, at 7 o’clock in the afternoon, to be the time, and the Town Hall Chambers, Seddon Street, Mackenzie, to be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Commissioners shall be held.
