Special Order made by the Council of the County of Horowhenua.

THE following special order, made by the Horowhenua County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order for Loan of £400 for Construction of Water-races in Kuku Water-supply Special-rating District.—Special Meeting, 14th September, 1907.

THAT, in pursuance of and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the several amendments thereof, the Horowhenua County Council resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest at 4 per cent. and other charges on a loan of £400, authorised to be raised by the Horowhenua County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” clause 14, paragraph (4), for the purpose of constructing water-races in the Kuku Water-supply Special-rating District, as comprised in the following assessed area (564 acres), being parts of Sections 20, 21, 22, the whole of 3c, and parts of Sections 4 and 1, Ohau, the said Horowhenua County Council makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the capital value of the areas assessed in the said Kuku Special-rating District, or as more particularly set forth in the ratepayers’ consent and the plan on which the area is defined and coloured green; and that the said special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. This special order to be confirmed at a subsequent meeting to be held on the 12th day of October, 1907.

I certify the above to be a copy of the special order made at a special meeting on the 14th day of September, 1907, for raising loan of £400 for construction of water-races in the Kuku Water-supply District.

Kuku Water-races Construction Loan of £400.—Confirmation of Special Order at Meeting on the 12th October, 1907.

That the special order made at a special meeting held on the 14th day of September, 1907, for the raising of a loan of £400, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” clause 14, paragraph (4), for the purpose of constructing water-races in the Kuku Water-supply Special-rating District, and the levying of a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the capital value on the area to be rated in the said district for payment of interest and other charges, be now confirmed.

I certify the above to be a copy of the resolution passed at an ordinary meeting of the Council on the 12th day of October, 1907, being confirmation of special order for raising a loan for construction of water-races in the Kuku Special-rating District.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Ellesmere Land Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

ELLESMERE LAND DRAINAGE BOARD.

Result of Poll.

In the matter of “The Ellesmere Lands Drainage Act, 1905,” and of “The Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1906,” section 51; and in the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 15th day of November, 1907, a proposal was submitted by the Ellesmere Land Drainage Board to the ratepayers of the Ellesmere Land Drainage District for raising a special loan of £10,000 for the purpose of repaying to the Selwyn County Council the sum of £2,289 10s. 3d., being the amount of the principal moneys which the said Council has lawfully expended in respect of drainage-works before the coming into operation of “The Ellesmere Lands Drainage Act, 1905,” together with such further sum for interest as may be found due to the said Council up to the date of payment of the said sum, and to construct works necessary to provide an outlet to the sea of the waters of Lake Ellesmere; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 151; against, 21.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

I HEREBY notify that a poll was taken on the 2nd day of October, 1907, upon the proposal to borrow the sum of £4,500 for the following purposes: Borough-site, £225; main road, £1,000; main footpath, £400; private streets, £1,200; Orua Road extension, £300; Fabian Street improvement, £75; storm-water culverts, £550; rights-of-way, £100; Recreation Reserve improvement, £250; Forest Reserve, £170 16s. 10d.; sundries (expenses), £229 3s. 2d.

And that the following votes were polled: For the proposal, 57; against the proposal, 8.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

RAGLAN COUNTY.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £3,000, Whaingaroa Special-rating District.

UNDER sections 12 and 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” I hereby notify that the following is the result of the poll of ratepayers taken over the Whaingaroa Special-rating District on the 16th day of November, 1907, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £3,000, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of forming and metalling the road from Raglan to Maungatawhiri and from Maungatawhiri to Waite-tuna—£1,000 of this amount to be spent in forming and metalling from Raglan to Maungatawhiri, £1,450 in forming and metalling from Maungatawhiri to Mangaokahu, £250 in forming and metalling from Three Streams to Sweetman’s Corner via Okete, £100 in forming and metalling the Kauroa Road, and the balance of £200 in forming and metalling the Te Uku Landing Road; and to levy a special rate of 1d. in the pound within the Special-rating District of Whaingaroa as security for such loan, which is for forty-one years at 4 per cent.:

Number of valid votes recorded: For the proposal, 85; against the proposal, 17; informal, nil.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.
