T. W. HISLOP,
Mayor of Wellington.
Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Hamilton.
The Treasury,
Wellington, 29th January, 1907.
THE following special order, made by the Hamilton Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
W. HALL-JONES,
For Colonial Treasurer.
HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
WHEREAS the ratepayers of the Borough of Hamilton did by poll taken on the 8th day of February, 1906, carry a proposal to borrow certain sums of money under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” particulars of which sums are as follows:—
(1.) Purchase of the Hamilton Gasworks, together with all plant, machinery, mains, &c. … … … … … … £ 12,000
(2.) The erection of a steel traffic-bridge to replace the present timber bridge … 12,000
(3.) Street-formation works and improvements … 13,000
(4.) Sewerage drainage of portion of Hamilton West … … … … … … 5,000
(7.) Deficiency by overdraft Town Hall loan … 472
And whereas by special order of the 6th day of April, 1906, the Hamilton Borough Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon it by the said Act, did resolve that, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on such money so proposed to be borrowed, the said Hamilton Borough Council should make and levy a special rate of 3½d. in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Hamilton: And whereas by inadvertence in making such special order the said Hamilton Borough Council did specify therein only the sums numbered 1, 2, 3, and 7 as above, amounting to £37,472, and omitted to specify the item above numbered 4, “Sewerage drainage of portion of Hamilton West, £5,000,” which work and loan the said ratepayers by their said poll have duly authorised: And whereas it is expedient to rectify such omission and to make the special order herein set forth for the purpose of making and levying a special rate to meet the interest and other charges upon all such loans as specified above and so authorised as aforesaid, making in all £42,472, instead of £37,472: Now, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the amendments thereof, the Hamilton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purposes of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £5,000, authorised to be raised by the Hamilton Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the following public work—namely, the sewerage and drainage of portion of Hamilton West—the Hamilton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3½d. in the pound (being the same special rate as is made and levied by the special order of the said Council of the 6th day of April, 1906) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Hamilton; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st days of April and October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years from the 1st day of February, 1906, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed as a special order at a special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council held on the 24th day of October, 1906, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 30th day of November, 1906.
Dated at Hamilton, this 4th day of December, 1906.
S. B. SIMS,
