Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Hunua Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

HUNUA ROAD DISTRICT.
I HEREBY notify that the following is the result of the poll of the ratepayers, taken on the 20th day of October, 1906, on a proposal to raise a loan of £3,000 for the purpose of forming and installing roads in the district :—
Total number of votes recorded, 42; for the proposal, 40; against the proposal, 2.
The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Road through Wharekaka Block, Block IV, Haurangi Survey District, Featherston County.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a road through Wharekaka Block, Block IV, Haurangi Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is further given that the plan of the said road and of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Martinborough, and is there open for inspection. And notice is also hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of such public work or the taking of such land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

New Zealand International Exhibition, 1906. — Minerals Court.

A GOLD medal and fifty guineas, a silver medal and twenty-five guineas, and a bronze medal and ten guineas will be awarded by the Mines Department for essays on the present condition and future prospects of the mineral resources of New Zealand, and the best means of fostering their development.
In judging the merits of the essays preference will be given to those which are of a practical character.
The essays must be sent in to the Under-Secretary for Mines, Wellington, signed with a motto, and accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the author’s name and address, on or before 1st December, 1906.
The essays will be submitted to a Board of three persons (to be hereafter appointed), on whose decision the above prizes will be awarded.
NOTE.—“Mineral” means any metal or mineral, and includes petroleum and other mineral oils.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1906, masters of vessels and others are hereby informed that a buoy with a spherical top, surmounted by a half-globe, round side up, and painted red and white (horizontal bands), has been placed in 5 fathoms L.W.S. on the N.W. side of the Yatala Shoal.
Approx. position: Lat. 35° 44′ 15″ S., long. 138° 10′ E.
This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 2389A, 25, and 1019.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—RAILWAY WHARF.

NOTICE is hereby given that the end of the new Railway Wharf at Auckland, now under construction, being outside the vertical red lights on the wharf, such lights have been discontinued from the 26th instant until further notice, and the end of the new wharf has been lighted by a bright light at each corner.
