Special Order made by the Eltham Drainage Board.

THE following special order, made by the Eltham Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

ELTHAM DRAINAGE BOARD.

Special Order making a Special Rate.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Eltham Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Eltham Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing the undermentioned drains, watercourses, or outfalls for water—namely, to make, construct, widen and (or) deepen, a drain, watercourse, or outfall for water along the main drain reserve lying between part Section 33, Block XI, Ngaiere Survey District, on the north, and Sections 38 and 37 of said block on the south, commencing at the Oru Road, and proceeding generally westwards along such main drain reserve to its junction with the branch drain reserve at the northernmost point of said Section 37, a distance of 48 chains, more or less; thence continuing in a south-westerly direction along such branch drain reserve to the Korepo Road drain (hereinafter called “Korepo Junction”), a distance of 20 chains, more or less; thence proceeding in a south-easterly direction along such branch drain reserve to the circuit drain junction between Sections 37 aforesaid and 97 of Block X, Ngaiere Survey District, a distance of 44 chains, more or less; thence commencing again at the Korepo Junction, and proceeding in a north-westerly direction along the Korepo Road drain reserve, a distance of 59 chains, more or less; and finally from a point in such last-mentioned drain reserve opposite to, and continuing in a south-westerly direction along, the boundary-line between Sections 95 and 96 of Block X aforesaid, a distance of 39 chains, more or less (the said proposed work being one continuous public work, and all contained within continuous boundaries within the Eltham Drainage District)—the Eltham Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 15/16d. in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of capital value) of all the rateable property of that portion of the Eltham Drainage District comprising part Section 32, Block XI, Ngaiere Survey District (172 acres); eastern half of Section 76, Block VI, Ngaiere Survey District (95 acres); part Section 33, Block XI, Ngaiere Survey District (203 acres); Sections 38 and 37, Block XI aforesaid; Sections 97, 96, and 95, Block X, Ngaiere Survey District; and eastern half of Section 94, Block X aforesaid (94 acres): and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off, and subject in all respects to the provisions relating to a special rate raised as security for a loan under the said Act. The interest to be paid on such loan is at the rate of £5 per centum per annum, and the cost of raising such loan and the interest thereon for one year are to be paid out of the loan.

The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Eltham Drainage Board held on the 25th day of August, 1906; and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Board held on the 25th day of September, 1906.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Waipipi Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIPUPI ROAD DISTRICT.

No. 4 Subdivision.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on Saturday, the 6th October, 1906, on a proposal to raise a loan of £2,000 for the purpose of metalling a portion of the main Waluku-Awhitu Road and the Waipipi Wharf Creamery Road: For the proposal, 32 votes; against the proposal, 16 votes; informal, 1 vote.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF FEILDING.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at the poll taken this day (upon the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Feilding to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of providing setting-basin, with valves, &c., and mechanical filter, in connection with the borough water-supply, including the purchase of necessary land) the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 71 votes; against the proposal, 45 votes; informal, 4.

As the number of votes recorded for the proposal exceeds the number of votes recorded against the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District for Scenic Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903,” to take for scenic purposes the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office at Dunedin, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.
