Altitude, from 600 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level. Undulating and some steep land, 16½ acres in grass and under cultivation; balance covered with mixed forest, comprising tawhai, towai, rata, puriri, karaka, and totara, with light undergrowth of fern and shrubs; soil mixed loam and clay, resting on sandstone formation; fairly well watered by small streams. Accessible by formed road, about five miles from Parua Bay.

Altitude, from 180 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. Part fern land, part scattered dead light bush and tea-tree, with blackberries in places; soil of medium quality; water can only be obtained by sinking. Distant about three miles and a half from Waikomiti Railway-station—one mile and a half by good metalled road, balance not formed.

About 60 acres of low swamp; balance very broken, covered with fern and scrubby tea-tree; soil inferior. Some danthonia has been sown, which is beginning to show here and there. There is a little mixed bush in two gullies, amounting to about 10 acres; part of the section has contained kauri-gum at one time, but is now thoroughly worked out. Situated about four miles from Whangaroa, and close to main Whangaroa to Kaeo Road.

Rural Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District open for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-eighth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and six; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Situated on the main Gisborne–Opotiki Road, about ten miles distant from Motu Township and seventy-two miles from Gisborne.
