UNDER “THE MINING ACT, 1898.”

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Westland Mining District, at Reefton.

PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned, the Progress Mines of New Zealand (Limited), of Reefton, mining company, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Date and number of miner’s right: 17th March, 1906; No. 52501.

Address for service: Care of Free and Cottrell, Solicitors, Reefton.

Dated at Reefton, this 8th day of September, 1906.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Situated in Blocks II and III, Waitahu Survey District. Commencing at a point on the western bank of the Inangahua River, about two miles and a half above the Progress battery, and terminating at the said battery. Memo.—The race applied for includes part of the race heretofore held by the applicant under Water-race License No. 1530 for fifty heads of water from the same source, which license will be surrendered.

Length and intended course of race: About two miles and a half; northerly, crossing part of R. Craig’s freehold.

Points of intake: Inangahua River.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Six months; £1,000.

Mean depth and breadth: 5 ft. 6 in. by 10 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Forty.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes —viz., treatment of ore at the works connected with the said battery.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
